Report - Koa Misi retiring (agent says that he isnt)

Good and not in a "good riddance" tone either. While I was not a fan of how often he was injured and the team suffered for it, I am glad he is putting the cleats up, neck injuries are nothing to play with. Here is to hoping he was wise with his NFL paychecks over the years and best of luck in whatever he may do in future with his life.

Pretty sure the staff had a hunch this might be the outcome, so now to see if they have Plan B and how it's done/handled.

He should've hung it up before the draft or even at the end of the 2016 season so we could've addressed his position more than we did.

Was a solid 2 down strong side backer.

I got to ask did we take a $3.5 mil cap hit on this? I understand the insurance side in case we struck out in the draft which is what I think that $1.1 mil guaranteed was clearly about but it's still hard to tell the owner he just ate a mil of real dollars basically for nothing.

That medical check up today must have been ugly outlook wise

"Hey Koa, go ahead and retire and don't bother trying to work your ass off to get back to pre surgery shape to play the game you have passion for and are getting millions to play!"

I don't fault him one bit, NFL is cut throat and you get all you can out of it before either father time gets you or your body breaks down, life after Misi is on the staff and franchise as a whole. I would like to think the team had this in mind and had some form of a game plan on what to do if/when this situation came up, but we'll see. As fans we can rant & rave all our hearts desire but truth is we have no damn clue what is going on behind closed doors(Though Hoops and SoS might at this point with the amount of break downs they do on schemes, players, etc..) and truth is, all we can do is hope for the best, tune in on Sundays/Mondays/*awful TNF games* and watch.

Smart and respectful not to burden your employer once you're sure.

Best of luck

Nailed it. He doesn't owe us a damn thing.

Misi was a very solid football player. Wish him the best in his health and future endeavors.

Raekwon highly likely to get day 1 even first team reps in camp now in base at least

No real comp in the building

Seems like a good decision on his part. Was hoping he had one more season, as a backup, with Miami but I wish him well in his life after football.

He didn't really have much to begin with, IMO. He was going to find his way into the starting lineup regardless.

Thank you Koa for serving the team for so many years. A Dolphin from start to finish (and there aren't too many who can say that). A player with great passion for our team. Unfortunately, many will just remember your less than healthy seasons at the end of your career and forget about all the really good games in the earlier years.

The run defense was horrendous last year. He was part of the problem.
In the long run the Fins are going to be better off. With a neck injury he would never play 100%.
Put the younger hungry guys in there.
