I was just listening to the Scott Wetzel show on Sporting News....they were reporting that Nick Saban is going to take BRAYLON EDWARDS with the 2nd pick.
Just posting what I heard.

yeah, Saban is SAYING he'll take Edwards, but he's just trying to make a trade

its difficult for San Fran to make a trade, because their pick is the worst kept secret, so Miami is in much better position to trade down.

I would laugh though if San Fran wanted Edwards all along and took him, basically throwing off the rest of the draft...

Well, Keith Box at Finheaven is reporting that the Dolphins will take Ronnie Brown. Not because he heard it from Saban's mouth or from a "source close to Saban", but because taking Ronnie Brown makes the most sense for the Dolphins and is the best fit.

ESPN's John Clayton is reporting the same thing. Says that we hope to trade with Cleveland and give them Braylon Edwards. But Braylon is ahead of Brown on our value chart. So we will take Braylon Edwards.

Well, he is one of two possible Best players in the draft. Edwards or willaims, both WR. We'll trad edown, I'm confident in it.

If SF passes on Braylon, I would grab him in a heartbeat. Take him hostage and make Minny pay me both their firsts, their 3rd and 7th. But, since they made me make them pay me, I might just ask for their 2 firsts, and 2nd, just to make them bargain me down to their two firsts, 3rd and 4th. I hate stonewallers and short changers, and if they make me make them deal with me fairly, then i will charge them an excise tax. F em, if they dont like it! I got Braylon and they dont. I can live with that!

But williams will still be avialable. I agree, taking him, could end up with an eli style trade. We pick him, trade him for picks, just like trading down, but remember... Williams will probably be there at #7. Best player in the draft IMO, but could slide as low at 17.

Ya, its a toss up between the two, but I would have no problem throwing the dice on my scenario. darn, we got stuck with Braylon. That would be just a shame. Braylon a bit more talented and faster. Mike has a tremendous amount of athletic ability. I would take either. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. but, minny lost Moss, which was their stretch the field guy. They need that back, and that would be Braylon. I would call their bluff, and make em pay me. They may select Mike, and make that trade with us, but if that happens, they still owe me their other 1st rounder, and if I am going to take Mike off their hands, then they owe me their 2nd and 5th rounders also.

Thats the great thing about desperate teams, they can get bent, and Im tired of us doing the bending. Its time for payback, or we get ourselves one hell of a player. were not here for the benefit of the other 31 teams.

KB,I have been reading your stuff for years and value your opinion highly. While I don't disagree that Ronnie Brown makes the most sense for us at 1.02,I don't see it happening for a couple of reasons.

1)This is a very deep RB class even beyond the big three. If Brown was the only sure fire RB in the draft I would totally agree with your viewpoint here.

2)The Fins have a chance to put on the field now the best 1-2 combo at WR since the Mark's brothers days.

3)The short shelf life of a RB vs. that of a WR coupled with the deep RB class suggests to me it would be easier to get the top rated WR at 1.02 and then grab one of the 2nd tier RBs in the 2nd/3rd round.

While I don't have the background pedigree that you and Boomer have,I have been a draftnick for the past 15 years or so and think I'm a pretty good evaluator of talent. Now don't laugh, but being in FF Dynasty leagues the past 10 years has helped me alot. You have to be able to spot incoming talent at the offensive skill positions if you are to be succsessful in the hobby.I have been able to do a pretty good job at that thru the years.I can appreciate your sticking to your guns with the Ronnie Brown pick and like I said earlier can't dismiss your logic there,I just think Edwards would be the better pick at 1.02 considering our options and the overall talent of the incoming RB class.

Fire away all.....
