I Just wanted to give my opinion on the whole Ronnie Brown injury controversey that is talked about so often on this board. I wanted to express my opinion because I just happened to be watching many highlight reels of Ronnies season last year. After watching the highlights of him it amazes me how so many fans are so negative toward him. When the trade rumor came out, alot of people were putting him down due to the concern of his injury and lack of going 16 games. I think it is crazy that people feel this way about Ronnie knowing he was playing at a level we have not seen a Dolphin back play since the early Ricky saga.

I wanted to focus more of this year of Ronnie though. Rickys "pre season success" has put a shadow over Ronnie.Ronnie has had a not so hot pre season. He hasnt had a chance to really show that hes ok knowing he has only had 5 carries all preseason. Ricky has been playing very well to the point where he might be the starter. I will get bashed for this statment but Ronnie should be the starting runningback week 1 vs. New York. Ronnie had a slow start to the season last year. He was slow last preseason as he is this year. Week 1 and 2 he was a little bit average. Then week 3 hit against who...New York. Ronnie tore it up for the rest of the short season.

Ronnie needs to be the starter week 1. He should pick up where he left off from last year and NY is a good place to start especially from what he did to them last year. People are concerned about Ronnies knee. It has been fine and he has had a good recovery. He has been through almost the whole TC and has gotten hits in preseason. I think his knee is fine. His recovery will be much better this year then if he were to have to live with it last year. Ronnie now has a game manager and more importantly a good leader at QB. Chad Pennington doesnt have to rely on the run game the whole game as where Green and Lemon kind of had to. Other players are starting to step up so its not just Brown. Ginn looks like he could be our top reciever because of Pennington. One of the most important things that Ronnie has this year rather than last year is a WAY better offensive line. Last year it was solid but now it could be one of the better in the league. We drafted Jake Long who is a better run blocker, signed Justin Smiley, and Satele is back after a great rookie year to take command. This is a huge upgrade that will help Ronnie. Ronnie had an old problem of dancing in the backfield also. He got rid of it but some are concerned he has shown his old habit in the preseason. Well his old mentor is back to cut the habit. Ronnies run style is so similar to the old running style of Ricky. Its a great thing to watch.

Well I wanted to write this article to try to get a point across and maybe change some opinions of Ronnie. I hoped I did enlighten this board a little bit and shed some positive energy throughout. I hope to see better youtube highlights of this years Ronnie next year during next years pre season to get pumped for the year. Lets go Ronnie but more importantly Lets Go Dolphins. Opinions..................

inuries are the only concern. it is still early in his career, but he does need to get through a full year without missing significant time. his contract makes him a liability if he keeps getting hurt.

I love Ronnie, he is my favorite Dolphin, and I too think he takes WAY too much abuse on this board-good post!

Agreed!
As long as Ronnie comes back and doesn't get hurt this year, I'll have NO worries about him being our #1 man next year. I just don't want them to rush him back as long as Ricky is doing a servicable job.

Players can and do come back from these types of injury, just look at AP and McGahee.
Ronnie was running and catching like a manchild while he was in last year. As long as this injury doesn't get the best of him, he could be unreal behind this MUCH improved Oline.

Thank You Very Much For This Post!! It Is Truly Amazing How Some People In This Forum Can Jump On Some Of The Most Ridiculous Anti-player Band Wagons!!!!

I agree with Ronnie taking his time coming back. I like Ronnie and think he will continue to be an asset to the fins for years to come. Coming back from a ACL tear can take time and coming back early can only set you back further in your rehabilitation. If Ricky is ready to go this year as it looks like he is, then i say Run Ricky Run and have Ronnie continue strengthing that leg until he is sure he is 100%

This is a great post. I can't believe how many "fans" that last year were jumping and calling him the best player we had are trowing him under the bus and want to trade him

I don't really get caught up into the "who will start" business ( unless it's the QB).. I mean really. What's the difference when you platoon two backs.. if Ronnie comes in for the 3rd and 4th series, and then for the 7th and 8th series, who cares.. They will both play.. And both will play PLENTY..

Just look at some 2 back backfields in this league- a list of teams with two running back tandems (in no particular order).. In a lot of cases, it doesn't really matter who starts, both will play plenty.

Carolina: Jonathan Stewart & DeAngelo Williams
Cowboys: Marion Barber & Felix Jones
Titans: Lendale White & Chris Johnson
Steelers: Willie Parker & Rashard Mendenhall
Minny: Adrian Peterson & Chestor Taylor
Dolphins: Ronnie Brown & Ricky Williams
Saints: Deuce McCallister & Reggie Bush
Jax: Fred Taylor & Maurice Jones-Drew
Ravens: Willis McGahee & Ray Rice
Giants: Brandon Jacobs & Ahmad Bradshaw
Raiders: Michael Bush & Darren McFadden
Falcons: Norwood and Turner
Jets: Thomas & Washington

That's just off the top of my head, there's more... Anyway, you get the point

Ronnie won't start and he hasn't yet lived up to his lofty draft status. He's been solid, but unspectacular through three seasons.

When healthy, Ronnie is an elite back. We all saw that last year.

But the man is made of glass. He is really reaching for Yatil Green status. Now, most of his injuries have been things that would take out anyone, so maybe he needs to learn to avoid hits better or the conditioning squad needs to take more time with him.

I don't want him gone. He could be our starter for the next five years.

A few "elite" games doesn't make an elite back. Elite backs have elite seasons. Ronnie has barely cracked 1,000 yards once in three years, that's not elite.

ronnie brown def deserves the no. 1 running back spot in miami, but only if he is truly at 100% no pt. putting him in and letting mess up his knee even more... disagree with the statement saying pennington doesnt have to rely on the running game....phins are gonna have a running offense this year his responsibility is gonna be not turning over the ball, which he is good at

How about half a season? He led the league in rushing before he was injured.

He has barely cracked 1000 yards because of injury. Also, and some may blame him for this, he is always being hit in his backfield because protection breaks down.

I worry that I may sound like those lunatic Chambers apologists of years past.
