All last nite I debated whether Selvie would be there in the 2nd. I am now convinced that in all likelihood he will not. So what follows below is a revised draft dropping Selvie out:

1.
B.J.Raji NT(6'1" 329)
Massive NT from Boston College. Ferguson is getting long in the tooth and outside of Soliai, who is nothing more than a backup, we have nothing.

2a. Jonathan Luigs C (6'4"314)
The 2007 Rimington Trophy award winner as the nation’s top center and a consensus All-American. Comfortable with the quarterback both under center and in shotgun. Able to handle even the biggest DTs. Luigs would allow us to move Satele to RG, a position he is better suited. Hopefully, with a healthy Donald Thomas back, we would not only have excellent talent, but great depth as well on the O-Line.
2b. Connor Barwin OLB(6'4" 252)
Barwin is an outstanding pass rusher. Barwin is a former BB player that didn't start playing football at TE till his Junior year. This year he was switched to DE and he recorded 47tkls, 12.5tkls. for loss with 10 sacks this season. He has an excellent first step and has a powerful bull rush. His BB prowess has given him fluidity in the hips and is has great instincts dropping into coverage.

3. Dominique Johnson CB(6'1"190)
While he is not the prospect that Dominique-Rogers Cromartie was, he is not far behind. He possess excellent ball skills and speed running a 4.39/40. He is a former Missouri Tiger and finished his senior campaign with 4 ints.

4. Tim Tebow QB (6'3" 235)
Before you call me a homer, hear me out. Currently we have RB being the primary ball handler out of the Wildcat. This limits the effectiveness of this formation. If we are going to use this as a part of overall offensive scheme, we need someone that can threaten the defense with the pass as well as the run - Tebow can do this. He is already comfortable with this offense and can take the primary QB off the feild to negate the risk of him getting hurt. Plus if he is still available and we take him in the 4th, there is very little impact to the overall draft if he doesn't workout. Besides what is the % of 4th rd. that make NFL rosters, around 15%?

5. Jasper Brinkley ILB(6'2" 275)
During his Junior year, he had a pretty bad knee injury and that is why I think he falls this far. He plays fast for a man of his size(4.6/40). He has the speed to run sideline to sideline. He is proverbial wall in the middle against the run. I have my doubts he will be there when we pick, but if he is we would be foolish not to take him.

7a. Patrick Turner WR(6'5" 220)
Second to Fred Davis in recieving yards in '07. He had 48rec./569yds. and 3 TDs in '07. He had 49rec./741yds. and 10 TDs in '08. He is a big reciever from USC, hopefully he can turn out better than Mike Williams.

7b. C.J. Spillman S(6'0" 193)
Senior safety and prolific tackler at Marshall. If nothing else he would be a ST contributor.
7c. Jeremy Perry OG(6'2" 329)
All-Pac 10 in 2006 at OSU. Had a leg injury in 2007 that sidelined him for much of the '08 season too. He is a project, but if he can comeback we will have a pretty good football player.

You could go with Nicks, but I feel we need to get the O-Line stabilized. While Ndukwe and Alleman did a adequate job filling in, I think by getting Luigs it would give us a much better foundation. While alot of teams will be grabbing the skill postions early i.e. WR, there is alot more depth at the postion than at Center. When you have an opportunity to get a player like Luigs and he also fills a need, you have to pull the trigger.

Also Instead of Tebow to run the wildcat why not draft Pat White as a WR (instead of Nicks) He would add a deep threat receiver and keep the wildcat a suprise by not having to change personel (taking chad out of the game would be a dead giveaway)

1. B.J. Raji: I Like Raji alot. But there are some good NT prospects in this years draft. OLB is leaps and bounds our biggest weak spot on this team. Roth is horrible at pass rushing. Anderson is horrible at run stopping. Neither are good in pass coverage. Porter gets double teamed all the time, but double teams start to go away when you have another pass rushing beast on the other side, something we didn't have this year. Not to mention Porter isn't very good in pass coverage and run defense either. Lots of good OLB's out there, Cushing, Sintim, Selvie. I wouldn't be mad one bit with Raji though, he's a monster.

2a. Jonation Luigs: I agree we need to move Satele to RG. Al Johnson looked solid the times he was in at Center. We would still need a starter or a backup at Center, but we have bigger needs. Some good CB prospects for the 2nd round. So I would like to see us go CB or ILB

2b. Connor Barwin: Not a bad choice, but I see us going OLB in the 1st. Reserve this for CB or ILB

3. Dominque Johnson: Again, not a bad choice, but I do see us getting a CB in the 2nd round, being so many good prospects. I see us going with a NT or FS in the 3rd.

4. Tim Tebow: I know it, everyone else knows it, and you know it, this was a homer pick. Tebow is going to blow in the NFL. The reason Penny lines up in the formation, is so teams won't know when the Wildcat is coming until they've already made their subs. I'd literally stop being a Fins fan if we draft Tebow. NT or FS here.

5. Jasper Brinkley: You're right, we would be crazy to not draft him in the 5th, that's because he won't be there. I think we'd be crazy not to take this guy if he's available in the 3rd. Because he won't be there, I reserve this spot for a T or C.

7a. Patrick Turner: Not a bad choice. Has great size. Looked good this year. Won't make it to the 7th though. Latest he falls to is the 5th imo.

7b. C.J. Spillman: If he falls to the 7th, I'd certainly take a look at him. A great tackler. Based on his tackling ability alone, I say he gets drafted around 5th-6th. His work ethic issues could cause him to drop to the 7th though.

7c. Jeremy Perry: I don't think Guard is a big concern for us. Especially not if Satele is put at G. Smiley and Thomas starting, Satele as depth, Alleman is good depth as well. We have 0 depth at Offensive Tackle though, and I can see us drafting a T for depth.

I believe the 7th will be all about Linebacker and O-Line depth.
