Son of Buddy Ryan, DC of Ravens. Wrote the book on the 46 defense.

Here is a good story on him, he's been around the NFL all his life... I wouldn't be upset if he made it for us. All of the former Ravens DCs promoted to HC are doing pretty well.

Rex tells a story from his college days at Southwestern Oklahoma State to illustrate his passion for the game.

"I always loved personnel, and that made me a draftnik before it was cool to be one," Ryan said. "But the draft was on ESPN and we didn't have it in college. So we drove three hours to some Sears store and they were kind enough to let us sit and watch the whole draft. I still love the personnel side of things. It really interests me."

We need someone that's going to continue what we have on defense. Keeping Capers as the DC is a great idea. But if we bring in someone that wants to change the Defense again... then that's another year of "we're still learning the defense". Another excuse for J. Allen "i FINALLY got confortable in the defense we had, did alot less thinking out there and then we change the defense, that's why I had an off yr".

We can throw the whole offensive playbook out the window for all I care... You cant exactly take a step back. People can cry about continuity and consistency but when did our offense improve at any point in the season. It was exactly the same all season. No wonder why Saban never lit a fire under Mularkey's ***... he was leaving anyway. He knew he wanted to go back in december. "what do I care, i'm outa here anyway" "we lost because my heart wasn't in it". Lol, i'm going to get over this soon...

Personally I don't think, the way the Ravens are set up, that they play a D that is so much different from ours.

If he could bring Adalius Thomas with him we would be good to go on D, potentially #1. Leave Mularky as OC and Mueller as GM.

No to Murlarkey staying on as the OC.

So how many years does our offense need to suck before they should learn a new system? 2, 3, 4?

I just can't see why anyone would want to keep Mularkey. The fact that its 99% likely that he'll be gone is the best part of all this.

If we lose Dom Capers, I would love to take a look at Rex Ryan as our Defensive coordinator. His style of defense involves multiple looks like Saban's former defense, and it wouldn't be too far from what we originally ran. Plus, he would probably be able to lure some great defensive players through free agency in the coming years. Head coaching wise, I'd prefer someone with more experience at being a head coach.

Defensive Coordinator is not a promotion for Rex, though, and Baltimore probably wouldn't just let him go.

I like both Rex and Rob (his brother, DC for the Raiders). I think either one could do the job here.

I know he sucks but at least the players wouldn't have to learn a new system again.

If he sucks then what good is continuity?

The Jets hired Brian Schottenheimer this past season, and he did pretty damn well with that offense.

If this team is knee deep in it, as many think, then why not just fix what needs to be fixed and move on from there.
