Rex Ryan keeps talking big

Though his body his shrinking and his team is operating from the position of front-runner, Jets coach Rex Ryan still plans to operate like a chip off the old block when it comes to boasting.
Said Ryan on Friday regarding the possibility of signing free-agent linebacker Adalius Thomas, per Manish Mehta of the Newark Star-Ledger, "With him, we'll end up first in the league. Without him, we'll end up first in the league. So if we get him, that will be great."
Ryan also said that the Jets will "definitely consider" Thomas, who was cut on Monday by the Patriots. According to G.M. Mike Tannenbaum, the Jets plan to wait a bit in order to gauge Thomas' market value.
But, really, why spend the money? If they're gonna win it all with or without him, there's no reason to chase him.
And before any of you point out that Ryan possibly was kidding, we're starting to think that, when it comes to talking big, he's never really kidding.
