The Patriots hosted Miami Dolphins restricted free-agent running back Damien Williams on Wednesday, a league source told ESPN’s Field Yates. The Patriots also reportedly recently hosted Bills restricted free-agent running back Mike Gillislee. Williams was given an original-round tender by the Dolphins. Since he came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2014, the Patriots would not be required to give up compensation for the running back in the event Miami failed to match New England’s prospective offer sheet.

@FieldYates 1h A double dose of RFA RB's visited Gillette Stadium yesterday, as Dolphins RB Damien Williams (low tender) also was there, per league source.

It would be a shame if we lost him to the Pats. I was hoping the Fins could keep these 3 RBs together as they plan on doing at WR. I like the continuity.

Kind of funny that Belichick brings in both Gillislee AND Williams. Its unfortunate there will be no compensation in the event of New England signing D-Will.

How many records does he break in New England this year? (sorry, couldn't help myself)

The Patriots have pirated their AFC East rivals' talent ever since Belichick showed up.

Let him go, and we can pick up Ajayi's backup with one of our 5ths.

I don't trust Williams or Drake to step in and step up if Ajayi is out for any reasonable amount of time.

There was always a good chance someone would offer him a contract. Good player

Very solid player I'd like to retain also because of continuity. Helps to keep the offense in large part in tact. That said, he's the 3rd RB so he is replaceable. He certainly had a hand in helping us reach the playoffs last year.

We will see what happens. I think Gilleslee is more talented though and I could see NE signing him.

If signing one of those two backs means they don't bring Blount back I am ok with that.

He's good at catching out of the back field but that's about it.

Whether he stays or goes, I want to see a lot more touches for Drake this season.

Meh. Pats are more interested in his intel than in him. He is an ok 3rd down back. Prefer to keep him in MIA but not worried about replacing him whatsoever.

He was our 3rd leading scorer (non-kicker). 6 TD's on 160 snaps. It won't kill us considering we have Drake but I don't want to lose him to those ass hats.
