Was here and we all (ME INCLUDED) Wanted him fired. He's turned the terrible Minnesota vikings into one hell of a football team. Especially defensively. I'm reading his wikipedia page and he's been there since 2006. What's evident is that it takes a little luck to get things right because it says he wanted to trade for Manziel but couldn't get it done and ended up taking Bridgwater. That's just luck because I'm not sure he would have survived a manziel drafting.

My point is.... is patience that way to go instead of turning over coaches and GM's every 3-4 years?

What is this "patience" that you speak of?

P.S. How long has Bill Belichick been the HC of the Patriots?

He was bad before Zimmer got there. Clearly Zimmer has a good eye for talent and they're working well together. But I won't forgive him for the A.J. Feeley trade...giving up a 2nd round pick for a 3rd string QB was asinine and trading a 3rd round pick for a 4th string RB in Gordon when he panicked after Ricky Williams quit on the team was also asinine. Not to mention he drafted Christian Ponder who was awful and was about to take Manziel...he dodged a bullet there. He would not have survived that one.

Damn.

A little OT, but as much blame as 'baum (correctly) gets for draft/FA picks, I know of few GMs who, by themselves, made consistently good choices. Most often, they are coupled with coaches who are good at evaluating talent. Miami has had neither for a long time. Patience IS the way to go if the failures are simply probability, but what I see is bad evaluators. That said, VJ wanted a press corner and got Howard - maybe he can evaluate CBs. Gase, OTOH . . .

78-81 (not including this year yet) since 2006 with 4 playoff appearances and a sole playoff win in 2009.

Better than Miami for sure but average when talking about teams that matter.
