Dolphins | Let's Make A Deal - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
20:19 PT: Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com the Miami Dolphins spent Saturday trying to strike quickly in the free agent market. So far, no go. They were after C Olin Kreutz (Bears), until they heard his asking price of a signing bonus of $7 million and a per-year average of $4 million on a long-term contract. They came close to landing a deal with DT Larry Chester (Panthers) and that deal almost certainly still will happen. Chester (broken fibula) was able to pass a physical for Miami while at the Combine.

Saints | Trade Updates - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
20:31 PT: ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the New Orleans Saints continue to try to move RB Ricky Williams and OT Willie Roaf via trades. There is no sign yet that the departure of Williams, who would be replaced in the lineup by RB Deuce McAllister, is imminent. A deal for Roaf, who met this week with Kansas City officials and is also being courted by Denver, could be consummated soon.

If we get Ricky Williams, it will be by Monday night

I am willing to bet that if we get Ricky Wiliams in a trade with N.O it will be within the next 2 days because other top FA RBs are being looked at and are going to be signed with other teams rather quickly. I'm sure Wanny and Spiel will tell N.O. that they have to get this done ASAP because the chance at getting other Top RBs willl dminish quickly if they can't get Ricky soon. I WANT RICKY WILLIAMS!!! I'M TIRED OF WAITING!! PLEASE WANNY AND SPIEL.......MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

Im with you all the way. It pisses me off that they are trying to go after these overrated running backs. James Allen-Lost his starting job, Olandis Gary-Demoted to 3rd string at one time and is injury prone,Garrison Hearst-this guy is a fluke his offensive line made him good. Im hoping we sign Ricky soon!:yell:

The Latest In The R-W's Soap Opera /

It has been reported that the latest deal on the table for Williams is a Miami 1st in 02 and a 2nd in 03, for the Saints 3rd in 03 and RW's... :goof: Add a few more R-B's to the Dolphins wish list,, the M-Herald is reporting that the Eagles and the Phins are talking about a trade for Duce Staley and that WannSpiel has shown an interest in Jacksonvilles Stacy Mack ??? ((And some of you guy's were debating the Phins interest in Fred Taylor)??? Although Wannstedt has refuted that his coaching staff have even discussedMack !! Go Figure Marino1983

Dude, they DO NOT want Olandis Gary. On the contrary, Gary's agent is calling them constantly.

Please do not forget how the game is played. It is our DUTY to explore our options and not put all our eggs into one basket. Sure we want Ricky Williams. But you gotta show the Saints that you're willing to go elsewhere or they'll drive the price into the sky. It's a buyer's market right now. And we're driving the price down.

And Garrison Hearst IS NOT a fluke. Anybody who comes back from something like that and runs as hard and makes the cuts that he does is pretty special. Yes, he's got a good OL, but the guy's got a lot of tools. Plus he's a leader and a great character guy. And those are the reasons why he's the most popular RB in FA right now. Because NFL men know what he can do.

Dolphins | No Progress - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
1:11 PT: The Sun Sentinel reports the Miami Dolphins have made no progress in their attempt to re-sign free agent CB Terry Cousin, WR Jeff Ogden or S Scott McGarrahan.

why would we want Ogden

Dolphins | Interested In Green - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
1:09 PT: The Sun Sentinel reports the agent for free agent S Victor Green (Dolphins) has contacted the Miami Dolphins about his client.

Vikings | Free Agent Notes - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
23:45 PT: The Star Tribune reports the Minnesota Vikings have plans to bring in free agent DL Kenny Mixon and Lorenzo Bromell of Miami and Brandon Mitchell (Patriots) on Monday night for visits. They also were working to set up visits for free agent LBs Henri Crockett (Atlanta) and Greg Favors (Tennessee) for Thursday or Friday. Another defensive lineman the Vikings would be interested in is the Rams Sean Moran. Cincinnati and Green Bay are reportedly other teams interested in Mixon. Coach Mike Tice feels the Vikings are going to lose some of their own free agents.

Dolphins | Looking At RBs - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
10:05 PT: According to the Miami Herald, Miami Dolphins senior vice president Rick Spielman said the team is hoping to bring in free agent RBs Garrison Hearst (49ers) and Warrick Dunn (Bucs) this week for visits. The team also seems to be losing some interest in a trade for RB Ricky Williams. New Orleans Saints GM Randy Mueller seemed to be growing impatient waiting on the Dolphins. ''My feeling right now is we're going to move on and pull [Williams] off the trade market,'' Mueller said. ``We have no problem keeping him at whatever his salary is going to be next season. He's a good player. It's a good deal for us or whoever he plays for.''

Jets | Punter Too Much Money - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
10:03 PT: The Miami Herald reports the New York Jets are interested in signing free agent P Matt Turk (Miami), but according to coach Herman Edwards his price tag is too high. ''We're not going to do that right now,'' Edwards said.

Eagles | Duce Up For Grabs? - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
10:01 PT: The Miami Herald reports NFL sources have said Philadelphia Eagles RB Duce Staley is now available via trade. They reportedly have already talked to the Miami Dolphins.

Titans | Where's Skip - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
9:58 PT: The Tennessean reports the Tennessee Titans were hoping to re-sign free agent RB Skip Hicks later at a lower price. Agent Howard Silber said thay may not work out the way the Titans want. ''I think Houston, Carolina, Miami, Detroit, Arizona, Atlanta  all are going to get in Skip's race,'' Silber said.

this article from the Herald sums lots of it up: http://www.miami.com/mld/miami/sports/football/nfl/miami_dolphins/2781367.htm

this is certainly the most promise development:
''The talks got very close on Sunday, but then a couple of other teams got involved, so we just have to see,'' Levine said. Chester is considered a strong run stopper. Coach Dave Wannstedt said the team would use Chester, Tim Bowens and Daryl Gardener at tackle.
:cooldude:

this is certainly the most frustrating:
- As New Orleans general manager Randy Mueller discussed ending trade talks surrounding running back Ricky Williams, Philadelphia running back Duce Staley became the latest back to become available.

Ricky Williams

I can't believe Miami hasn't made this deal happen. From what I have read the lastest offer is Miami's first pick this year and third round next year, for RW and NO's third. WE NEED TO MAKE THIS DEAL.

Ricky didn't have much of a line last year and still had a good year. Towards the end of the season they were getting blown out so they had to throw the ball which limited RW running late in games. We didn't get blown out.

Chambers is coming into his own after great flashes late in the season, add OG and McKnight. Ricky can catch out of the back field, he punishes tacklers and is a Norv kinda back for the offense that he wants to run. I think Miami is being to conservative and at this point NO is wanting to make a deal happen and Miami isn't letting them.

Ricky is a quality back and no way will NO give him up for any less that what is being offered now. Out of the FA there is nothing close to him available. I feel like Miami is pissing in the wind by not committing to this deal to take the Dolphins to the next level.

MAKE THE TRADE NOW.

I agree with you that we are "pissing in the wind." We need to make this trade happen NOW!!! I'm from Marshalltown, IA. What part of Iowa are you out of?

i predict we wont get ricky, garison, dunn, staley, or any body else, we will just stay with what we got, unfortunately.

On a happy not though the Hogs have 5 running backs that are something special and will be graduating in the next 4 years.

I am from Des Moines. This waiting sucks! It seems Miami has always lacked that RB that is a difference maker, and we have a chance to get one and NOTHING.

Exactly, the 60 receptions he had this year are mighty impressive considering the rushing yards. We need to have a back that when put in does not signal the D what we intend to do.

In 2001 it was Lamar in,. run bet. the Ts. Minor in - we're throwing.

In 2002, it c/b RW in - run between the T or throw to RW in the flat or play-action and hit CC for the big one. :D
