Former NFL scout Ken Moll told the Miami Herald that he believes Ricky Williams "has lost a step."

"I don't see him threatening the edge as much as he used to," Moll said, calling Ricky merely a "capable backup" at this point. Williams' touches are down with Ronnie Brown taking over as Miami's primary back, but Ricky isn't making a case for more work with the chances he gets. He's averaging just 3.8 YPC and generated only 16 yards on seven carries in Week 8

In no way am I tryinh to make this a negative thread, but Ricky has lost a step and he is no longer that mennacing back he used to be. Ricky is a backup and I hope this team noticed real soon. He cost us big with the fumble and he is constantly getting hit behind the line of scrimmage. I love Ricky and Im a huge fan, but his age is starting to show and the fumble problem continues to hunt him. I think we will see more and more of Ronnie and Ricky will take a little back seat.

One thing I like is how they were using Ronnie and Ricky at the end of the game. Ricky as the HB and Ronnie as the FB. Im hoping for a big game next week from Ronnie.

Silly to say Williams has lost a step. he is barely averaging less than our starter. Of course williams is not the Williams of 2002 but we should have already known this anyway.

He has lost it. He goes down on first contact almost every time. He's a suitable backup but he shouldn't be used for anything else other than keeping Ronnie fresh.

who cares! we have Ronnie Brown, He is a solid backup.

he looks a little slower, but i still think he has the capibility to be a starter..

I disagree whole heartedly.....

Did anyone see him put it into 2nd gear in the screen pass vs the bills?

To say he has lost a step because he is struggling to run the ball is silly. Our running game has been struggling all together if not for the wildcat. It has more to do with the lack of respect for our passing game, rather than Ricky's feet.

i agree. give ricky 20+ touches a game and he'll average atleast 4.5 yds per carry

What I have seen is that he is not following his blockers well. Sparano noted that he had been taking everything to the outside in the preseason and had told him that he better make it count if he was going to "take it out there like that..."

He needs to start trusting his blockers....AND HOLD ONTO THE ****ING BALL...

Ricky has a lost a step....but he's one of the rare players who could afford it and still be effective in the NFL.

Ricky's a different person and a different football player, I am glad to have both on my team. I'd rather have a slower Ricky on our team than the one who's been gone for 3 years.

Ricky helped win that game yesterday and I knew as soon as he fumbled he was going to make up for it. Thats all we can ask of him, to be the best backup RB in the league, which makes this thread odd considering we might also have one of the top 3 starters in the league.

No room for Ricky bashing today.

he needs more carries. you can't say he lost a step when he's only getting 10 carries a game.
Ricky's strengths show up in the 4th quarter. When everyone else is gassed he's still flying around.

Who would that top three starter be?

Clinton Portis
Adrian Peterson
Frank Gore
Ladanian Tomlinson
Marion Barber
michael Turner
Chris Johnson
Thomas Jones
Steve Slaton

Some of you guys need to get the old Ricky out of your head. What he was able to do back in the day isn't possible now. Not because of Ricky because this is a different team with another RB who is more like Ricky used to be, than Ricky is.

We have exactly what we need at the RB position.....were not effective at running the ball cause OL isn't making holes.

Yup! 8-10 carries a game is not enough! If you remember we used to hand him the ball 25-30 times a game back in the Norv days! You can ask any Running back the first 10 carries are always a warm up...

do you think he might be in the wrong for not trusting blockers? even Ricky of the old days didnt trust his blockers. our O-Line has sucked the past 7 years so its only natural for him. that trust will be building back up soon enough as our O-line while young, is improving every game.

Again, where is he going to go? There is no running room behind our OL. You can't stay that committed to the running game when your down by 9 in the second half.

Had Ricky not fumbled and we were able to sustain another long TD drive the first half would've went different and maybe Rick gets a shot at more carries.
