Anyone here thing Ricky would have been a Hall of Famer if it wasn't for all the weed crap he got himself into? I think he was a guranteed HOF player before all of this. I personally think he had the physical ability to be the best running back to ever play football. I don't think he would have ever broken Smith's all-time rushing record, but from a physical dominance standpoint (Wanny word), I don't think there was anyone with his kind of strength, power, and quickness, and vision before him. Maybe Jim Brown, but he retired so early. Anyone agree or disagree. Obviously I'm talking about the Ricky who led the NFL in rushing, not the post-weed Ricky.

only if he didnt get involved in the drugs and stuff but he did and he screwed up his chance

i think he could still be but it will be pretty hard he will have to work his self back into the NFL owners harts to get anything like that he can play his *** off so when it comes to stats eh can very likely be there

I think if he didn't retire and played at the same level he did in the past, than he very well could have been HOF material. Now I think even if he returns to that production level, he would have to play at least 5 more years and stay drug free to even be considered for the HOF.

Good question but it only reminds me of an argument that I had with my friend the other day. I know im bias here but If you could have Ricky or Thurman Thomas in their prime who would you roll with? Like I said im bias but it Ricky for me all the way! Any thoughts?

Definitely I would take ricky over Thomas in their primes. Ricky was just so physically dominating it was sick. I mean we had the worst Offense in the NFL, but because of Ricky we won 10 games. Ricky could just wear done a defense. And carry the rock 43 times a game. Who wanted to tackle ricky in the 4th quarter in his prime...absolutley nobody. Remember that Redskins game where Arrington was talking trash, then ricky just fools everyone for the game winning touchdown. Man, I miss ricky in his prime. Good times

you guys seem to think that he started to smoke pot and his troubles started, well i have new for you, the ricky that rushed for over 1800 yards was smoking too. he got caught a bunch of times and then had troubles. i dont advocate what he did in any way but dont sit here and blame the drugs for his problems. if the nfls bogus rule of not being able to smoke pot wasnt in effect, then essentially there would be no discussion. pot is not a performance enhancer, if anything its a performance decreaser, so in my opinion should not be illegal in the nfl. ricky did have the skills to become a hall of famer but he decided to quit on himself, drugs or no drugs.

Ricky's prime would have to be 2002 (I think it was '02) with us. As much as I love Ricky, Thurman was the all around threat in his prime. Don't forget he almost single handedly kept us out of the Super Bowl in the 1990's with his running & those screen passes.

There is not a doubt in my mind that if the disruption of his career didn't happen he was on his way to the Hall. Fully focused he is one of the most physically gifted runners to ever play the game. Think Earl Campbell with better speed and moves.

I'm telling you guys, if the NFL allows him to play this year he is going to be an animal.

Thomas was a beast for Buffalo. Those days were all about Kelly, Thomas and Bruce Smith. Superbowl yrs for them. All of those Bills guys deserve to get in IMO and i hate the Bills.!!

Your parked in a non BILL loving parking spot!

Ricky was born to do one thing: run with the football. One of the most physically gifted RB's in history in my opinion. However, he didn't have the HOF attitude of an Emmit Smith or Walter Payton. He may have it now, but he didn't in the beginning of his career for a myriad of reasons. That being said, I believe winning the appeal is the difference between a pretty good offense and a GREAT offense, particularly if Daunte can't go early. As if most of you already didn't know, we really need RW.

No he was good, but I don't think he was a HOF player. Hatred for the Bills would be the only reason that anybody would take Ricky over Thomas who was absolutely amazing for the Bills in the 90's. I remember him tearing up the Phins and Andre Reed seemingly getting a big gain on a reverse or end-around every time they played. Thurman deserves to get in and I think he will.
