I have been thinking a lot recently about Ricky and what he did last year, the decisions that he made. We all know Ricky has some social anxiety issues or difficulties being in the spotlight as an individual. I think whatever treatment he received though various techniques has helped his soul because he definately seemed like he was more sure fo himself during the interview. He had been trying to please everyone in the world up until last year, except for himself. Living a life that is not driven by your desires but by someone elses will break anyone if continued for that length of time. Everyone, including myself called Ricky selfish for doing what he did. If he checked himself into a clinic we would not be treating him like this. His clinic was world travel and self discovery. He will emerge stronger from all of this and what ever ailments he had mentally will be cured I believe. I am damn happy that he came back and I will no longer question what motivates him or his reasoning. He said he is here to play and contribute and that he will. He is the best RB on the roster and a top 3 back in this league. I am in no hurry to trade him by the way, because contrary to most thought that RB's can naturally come in and contribute immediately, it happens less than we think. Maybe no one will agree with me, but relate him problems with that as an alcoholic getting treatment or maybe that of an injured player, we would want them healthy and back with the "family" afterwards.

i was thinking about this yesterday. And quite frankly for a man who used to have social anxiety problems, his press conference, in that type of situation, was phenominal.

I am one that was not happy that he quit on the team. Hopefully he has gotten life turned around. I want to see if his heart is into it, and if he there for his fellow players. I know he has apologized to the players, and fans. Let's see how he plays during the year, and hopefully we can put this behind us all, and move forward. The ball is still in Ricky's court, and what he does from now on, can ease, and erase a lot of the pain that he caused!

I totally disagree. To say he made NO MISTAKES?

I hope he realizes his numerous mistakes and learns from them. I would hope that at some point they made him feel so bad and disgusted with himself and his decisions that he would never want to repeat those actions again.

Lastly, I would sincerely hope that he seeks out and help people who are in his situation. That would soothe his psyche and quicken the healing.

so basically he's selfish now

This isn't meant to compare to ricky at all, more out of humor I guess, but how many people felt cheated and called Jesus a quitter for doing what he did. I am sure someone called him selfish.

Well stated and I agree strongly with your premise. If we put our judgements aside, Ricky is a man at his cross roads. I agree I liked his demeanor. He is still a bit awkward in his skin. He may be slightly depressed. But Gad is he an animal. He has got a burst and another gear and then he can run you over. I think these athletic qualities help him emerge from the darkness. The stage is perfect because he has 5 weeks and Ronnie can do all the damage, take the spotlight. Ricky can then just be great. He does not have to carry the team, nor even be the guy. He can just come in and freakin explode.

Sometimes a man comes to his crossroads in life. How one ultimately deals with that decision dictates the rest of his life!

I sincerely hope you are not referring to Jesus Christ. I think you need to go back and read the scriptures.

A year ago he was telling his teammates that he was going to be their leader. It was clearly foolish to believe what he said then. Why is it anymore sensible to believe what he says now?
