I think the translation is that he doesnt expect Ricky and Ronnie to be a long term thing because of the expected ego clash between two runners with high expectations and the potential high salary cap cost.
I dont agree because both Brown and Williams seems to sort of defy normal expectations.
Williams is sort of stuck. He's got an 8.6 million dollar judgement over his head that will put him in millions of dollars of debt. It seems like the Dolphins were able to use this as some sort of threat, considering they have Ricky for all intents and purposes having the appearences of wanting to play football and getting prepared and behaving like a normal football player. It seems as if the Dolphins are allowed some sort of ability to decide when they collect payment, if ever. I dont even know if there is any legal basis for this, but I think it's possible the Dolphins have things regarding the 8.6 million dollars worked into his contract with them. I think the ultimatum comes down something like this: Ricky Williams does what the staff want him to do in regards to football for a normal NFL salary, maybe with perks(More then enough to live on for years), or Ricky pays 8.6 million and becomes a bankrupt rastafarian bum who owes child support for 3 kids.
Not to mention the fact that one of the reasons he quit the game was because he didnt like being run into a brick wall. That's not an issue anymore. He's sharing a roster with the #2 draft pick in the NFL, and playing under a coach who doesnt go for "Wadball", and O-coordinator who has consistantly had a balanced attack that used multiple runningbacks, and one of the best O-line coaches in the business trying to keep him upright. Compare that to what drove him away, a very confused looking man with a porn star 'stache who didnt believe in passing the ball, treated a first down I-Form up iso play up the middle like it came from a Holy book, and an O-line coach who apparently was unable to communicate the concept of "blocking" properly in any medium.
Ronnie's got it good too. He gets #2 back money for doing exactly what he did in college.
