Ronnie's out, period. We'll miss him but the Dolphins will need to find a way to move the ball without Brown but WITH the WC. If they want to use the Wildcat, Ricky Williams is going to have to be the one taking some snaps. Ricky is not Ronnie but he is still a great runner. Ricky will need to use the plays designed for it where Ronnie was more creative.
They are both great runners but they are completely different. Ronnie usually is calm and waits for something to open up so he can pop through the hole and get into the open. Ricky goes where he's supposed to and hits the gap with conviction, which is why he's not going to be quite so good running the Wildcat.
The WC has shown some success with Ricky taking snaps though. Ricky could very easily open up some big runs but I don't think we will be seeing it as often as before Ronnie went out.
The Dolphins need to make sure they have all of the other basics down before relying on Ricky in the WC. We sure could use Patrick Cobbs, because this is the time Miami needs him to be a threat on the end-around out of the Wildcat. Lex Hilliard could be a good runner but we just can't be sure of him yet. What we are likely to see without Ronnie is the Pistol, or the "Wildpat," With, yes, I'm gonna say it, Pat White.
He will definitely need to step up and complete some passes against the Panthers.
The QB option will be key using the Pistol. It will likely keep the defense off balance. Instead of relying on Ronnie, we will need to keep Carolina looking at White and guessing.
Hilliard is going to have to prove himself as a runner this week too. He hasn't been used at all offensively but now is the time for him to show what he can do as I'm sure Ricky won't be carrying the entire running game. For the O to score, we need big games out of White, Williams, Henne and Hilliard to beat the Panthers.
To all of you who I have gotten fired up previously, that don't trust White or have actually said he's a mistake, I just hope you all recognize, win or lose, if given a chance to prove himself, maybe you will change your tune... even if just a little. I think our chance for a win is much better, with him.
