I know he has to be signed by a certain date or he is committed to returning to his Canandian team by his current contract with them. I don't know the date. But, the Jets are in heavy discussions with him to take Testaverde's spot.

"the eskimo players and coaches take pride in helping Ricky fullfill his dream of playing in the NFL , said Eskimos President and CEO Hugh Campbell. "Ricky Ray is a tremendous young man with a bright future and we wish him great success".
according to the Sun's source, 14 NFL clubs watched Ray work out, and three offered him a contract. That three teams were said to be the Jets, Dolphins and the Arizona Cardinals.
