At that event Williams talked to the local newspaper and a couple of local television stations and, in so doing, let everyone in on a little secret: He's playing two more seasons and he's outta here.

Williams, whose contract runs out after 2009, apparently plans to play out that deal and hit the road.

"All professional athletes have to come face to face one day with their professional mortality and finding a way to cope with it," Williams told News 8 Austin. "I've managed that. I have a couple of more years of football left in me and then I'll go off and explore the world after that."

it doesnt make sense to plan to play now and retire in 2 years......just not much..

well, he ll be 34 by then so I guess hes just being realistic...

How about he plays 1 year before he talks about playing 2?

Yep, do you remember the Monday Night Miracle?

Yeah I remember the refs being biased and Chris Chambers TD on the sideline in the endzone being called back because he supposedly didnt have control of the football, when he clearly caught it but because the ball hit the ground AFTER THE CATCH, he did not catch it. BullS***!

Anything can happen with help from the refs. Just ask the Buffalo Bills comeback against Houston in the playoffs when the WR stepped out of bounds and came back in to score.

He is going to play two more years so he has a shot at not paying back the 8mil he owes the Miami Dolphins for smoking dope and getting suspended half his career.

Im sure Wayne has already written that 8 million off, in his mind at least

Then obviously you do not remember the Monday Night Miracle b/c Chris Chambers was in College for that game. The Chambers disputed TD happened in a Sun Night Game in 2002 and it was the CORRECT call. You have to maintain possession all the way through and the ball clearly bobbled a bit after he hit the ground. This play has happened against us many more times than for us.

If his mind is already on exploring the world again I bet he doesn't stay that long here. Sounds like his mind is focusing more on getting out of here than anything. At this point I'd rather have a guy who wanted to be here not a guy who was just going through the motions and acting like he was serving a sentence. Everytime that big spotlight shines on Ricky he is always looking for an escape, the closer he gets to spotlight time and the start of the season the worse it gets and from the things he says it makes me feel he still hasn't found a way to handle it and might never find a way.
