I found this interesting tidbit in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

If the Steelers need a big running back for next season to pair with Willie Parker, the Miami Dolphins have just the man for them -- Ricky Williams.

Williams rehabilitated himself this year, especially late. He averaged 4.9 yards a carry in the final seven games and topped 100 in each of the final two games. The Dolphins plan to feature Ronnie Brown in his second NFL season, and Williams is on the trade block.

I wasn't aware that Williams was on the block. I can't see us getting rid of him but if we got worthy return, I'd consider it for the better of the team.

He isn't... Just reporters acting like they know something because every player is available. Hey did ya hear? Peyton is going to be traded at the end of the season. Sheesh!

If a team wants to offer us something rediculous for Ricky.. I'm sure we'd pull the trigger, but let's be honest... There's way more upside to keep him here!

Ricky, like nearly every other player on the team is on the block.....for the right price.... That is the key...if someone offers the right compensation for RW, he'd be gone in a heartbeat...he would come cheap, cap-wise and would only cost a team players/picks...so he is an easy player to trade for and with. But Saban won't give him away for nothing...it'll be really interesting to see because keeping Ricky is just as good for us as getting a good compensation package for him....

I hope we keep Ricky. No team right now would pay a good price for him and we can keep him really cheap. So why give him away??

I think you pretty much summed it all up. About why reporters do this, and about the realistic possibility to trade RW. He's worth a lot more to us than another team, and only will be traded if we get a great deal. Especially with his cap friendly contract.

They can dream all they want but he is worth more to us than the third round pick they are probably anticipating they would have to give up.His cap hit is minimal to us.Any replacement would cost more.

If Ricky gets traded and Ronnie gets injured he will be backed up by the same guys who proved they couldnt start last year

thats now these people sell newspaper.........quote me: ricky william is going nowhere!!!!

I agree that Ricky is probably going to stay in Miami but it's because no one is going to give us what he is worth to us. Because of his past we can't get a high pick for him. If we could get a high pick he would be gone.

I think that if Ricky moves at all, it will be to help us move up in the draft. That would perhaps allow us to get a top QB prospect if Saban feels this is the way to go. Using him for a 3rd rounder is absurd. How does that help us? We know RW can play. How many 3rd rounders never make the team? Too many.

It is all speculation and until there is hard reports or sources from each team saying there is a deal in the works RW is staying in Miami!

Couldn't agree more. Plus Ricky seemed to enjoy his role this year so I hope he stays. Brown will only get better and Ricky is a great insurance policy.
