Does anybody else here realzie that even Ricky was a dissapoinment at first in the NFL, and it took him getting traded to really become a great back? I really don't know the details of how we got Williams because I didn't become a hardcore fan till the year we got him, but I know that is years in New Orleans weren't brilliant, which is why Deuce was favored over him.

Dude...I'm not like the "repeated thread" cop or anything...But there are like 10 threads that are already talking about this.

One word....removed.

EDIT: You blantantly and rudely insulted another posters. And you deliberately circumvented the profanity filter. 24 hours each.

How was Ricky a bust? He's gotten 1000 yards on the ground every year he's played save for his rookie year when he got hurt. An average of 1200+ yards per year in his career.

I know that is years in New Orleans weren't brilliant, which is why Deuce was favored over him.

It wasn't that Ricky wasn't brilliant in New Orleans, because he was. It was the fact that he had 10 games in his first two years & Ricky wasn't Haslett's choice at RB coming in in his first year as coach.

FYI Ricky did fine his first 3 years in the league (in N.O.)

year carries yards ypc TD rec yds ypc TD
1999 nor 253 884 3.5 2 | 28 172 6.1 0 |
2000 nor 248 1000 4.0 8 | 44 409 9.3 1 |
2001 nor 313 1245 4.0 6 | 60 511 8.5 1 |

he got better every year, and averaged 4 ypc in his last two years there. I think his "weirdness" combined with relatively few touches sent him packing... plus didn't we reach out to N.O. and offer them the two first rounders? they couldn't pass that up.... and they had a good backup in Deuce who could pick up where Ricky left off.

Kinda like how Moss left Minnesota, only Ricky wasn't a problem child. But if the price is right, sometimes players get traded.

ricky wasnt a bust when he played. he overachieved in miami.

I think RW was considered a bust by many his first two seasons or a disappointment. The Saints gave up an entire draft and future draft picks to move up to get RW. Then he had 850 yards rushing his rookie year. Nothing special. And 1000 yards rushing his second year. Not elite numbers, for sure.

Is that worth an entire draft? Considering what they gave up, RW was under A LOT of pressure to step right in and have a 1500 yard season. After two years of not coming close to elite back numbers, people were ready to give up on him. And in fact the new coaching staff did.

RW had a really strong third season, however, the Saints had drafted Deuce that offseason.

OK.
1. Ricky was NOT a bust in New Orleans
2. Please read the TOS. Or at least the first sticky on page one.
Thank You.

Wash your mouth out with soap. Ricky is the man. I can't wait until he comes back. I am sick of these half behind running backs that we have now.
