Interesting column from the Washington Post via MSNBC.com.

Riggo weighs in

Here's a money quote from writer Michael Wilbon on why we should care what Riggins thinks:

I've never met anyone smarter than John Riggins when it comes to assessing who is worth the trouble and who isn't and how to best handle professional athletes and the natural disagreements that arise.

OJ.Mc Duffie said the other day that IHO there has never been a better WR than TO play the game past and present and he includes Moss .

OK.He is a prima donna but he has the goods and is probably worth the money he is seeking or at least more than he is making now.The Eagles will have to decide whether he is worth it but they will be a greatly diminished team without him.

He shouldn't of signed the contract.

What about Largent, Rice, Monk, Brown, Carter, Alworth, Taylor, and Biletnikoff?

I have ALWAYS disliked Riggins very much because he is an arrogant SOB. But I agree with him on this. Owens has so far stepped over the line that ANY team would be EXTREMELY apprehensive about having them on their team. He is a cancer all the way around. I would not want him in a Dolphins uniform under ANY circumstances.

I agree but then I dont understand the murky world of NFL contracts where deals have been cut after all parties involved have vehemently denied that their stancess will be altered only to see that they were indeed altered in the final analysis.

BTW That was OJ Mc Duffies opinion .Not mine.

Dont forget Paul Warfield.

He included all of the names you listed.

yea crunchtime brings in TO's side. I definitely agree with you guys that say TO is a big problem and should honor his contract, but I also see the power owners and management have on players. Only signing bonuses are guaranteed money if you get hurt, cut, etc... so even with outrageous base contracts, the players can and sometimes do get the end of the short stick. Heh, Alex Smith will never have to worry about money again even if he's a bust, 24 million in signing bonus alone... ridiculous. I have no sympathy for TO... he's a ****y arrogant player whose signing bonus was plenty enough and he has plenty of endorsements TO will be reporting to camp. So much for all his "holdout" talk... the Eagles have him on a chain b/c if he's a no-show to camp, they can issue you him a 5 day notice to report and if not they can go after some of his base salary and signing bonus. If he still doesnt report, they can put him straight on Injured/Retirement Reserve which means he'd have to sit out the year with no money coming in and no chance of being traded/playing for another team.

I probably would have bashed TO too but since everybody was doing it I decided to take the contrarian view and make the thread more interesting.;)

We'd be stoked if we found out T.O. was suddenly on our team.

That being said, he's being an a$$ IMO.
