Hopefully I don't get bashed for this post but I was just watching some videos of Ricky that I have on my computer and it got me thinking. Just for a moment block out what you personally think about the guy (Ex: he's a pothead, he's innocent, he should be traded, etc.) and see if you can find a few of his highlight videos. I have never had so much fun watching any other guy run on the professional level. He can pump it up the middle and miracally pop out of a pile of 6 defenders unscaved or he can bounce it to the outside and out run D-backs and leave them without their shoes. Innocent or not ... I can still say that this guy is one of my favorite backs of all time just because his style of running.

I am in total agreemant about his running abilities. I also think he is a great team player and a good person.

yea i hear ya man

its tough
I still talk about his 2002 season liek it was yesterday.
He is just a special talent and a good guy, he just has made some bad decisions.

The funny thing is if he beats this latest scandal, he still has time to turn his career from very good to HOF. Ricky doesnt have a lot of wear and tear on him, 3-4 1400+ yard seasons, & you'd have to condsider him. He's unstable enough to go to the HOF ...or never play another down! But he also is part of a long list of great runners from Jim Brown to Sayers, Payton, Sanders, Hershel, and so on....nothing better in the NFL than watching a great runner run! I hope he still is with us in July...

I love watching him play. I remember the time he bust off that huge run against Chicago in 2002, that's when I first realized we had something truly special in the backfield. He can take over a game, that's what separates good players from great players.

I love to watch Ricky run. The only runner with better highlights is Barry Sanders. He could juke 120 men out.

I disagree with you. The only two runners highlights that are better would be LT and Barry. Just seeing LT be able to throw for a TD or anything he wants is amazing.

RW has/had the potential to be one of the best ever. He just doesn't care about that sort of thing.

I forget which game, but during his second great year with us, he was knocked down, but managed to bridge himself with his hand and ankle (stretched full length out almost, yet not letting his knee or anything else toch the ground). It In slow motion afterward, so you could see he was not down, and he got up and continued to run. I forget how many yards, or if it was significant, but that's something you really never see.

That said, I'd rather watch Ronnie run, because he's still getting better. Man, when he plows guys over, straight armed a lineman early this year near the goal line, hurdled a Bills DB, etc. You just know he's special, and will do some other things you don't usually see as his career moves forward.

If you look at highlights from 2003 or before, you see a more of a power runner who looked for people to run over....a Bo Jackson type, but this year, he did more bouncing to the outside and running out of bounds because he's probably 15-20 lbs lighter than he was then...He is fun to watch and if you like this style of running, look at clips of Bo Jackson and Earl Campbell...That'll really get you pumped up....

I remember that. It was like a 12 yard gain that should have only been for about 3 yards but he managed to push himself back up. And if I remember right it was a touchdown. I know he picked himself back up probably within the 5 yardline.

I didn't think a TD but maybe. I remember like you said, he turned a small gain into a good one.

I agree...Ricky is one of my all-time favorite dophins and I've been a fan for 35 years. I just fell in love w/this guy. His running style is awesome. He doesn't waste any time trying to fake people out all he needs to do is make a small little juke while he's still moving forward and with his power thats all he needs. And when he sees the slightest bit of a hole he hits it so fast and hard that when he comes out the defenders are takin off gaurd thats why he's making extra yards after he hit. And the awesome speed he has is incredible I'm meen everytime I see him in the secondary he makes the DB's look like there standing still. When I watch him run it just makes me think he's like a man among boys. And another thing it's like his mind is always a step ahead of the mind of the defender. He usually gets the better of the defender.
I love Ricky and no matter what he did or does I'll still love him.

It was the home game against New England in 2003. It didn't go for a touchdown but it did get us a first down, it was challenged by Belichick because.... honestly, who would think we had superman running the ball? His knee touched a teammate's shoe (Randy McMichael, I think) so he was never really down by contact.
