Ricky Williams To Undergo Surgery Today

They said that this surgery will keep Ricky out from 4 - 6 weeks...

Only 4-6 weeks, eh? I wonder how many games the CFL season has left? I'd prefer he missed out on the rest of that wear and tear.

Its strange that he never really got hurt in the NFL, but it only took 4 games in the Canadian league for this to happen. Is the Canadian league just a more physical league or something?

that is fine, he got paid now he wont play alot and next year he is back

The article about his injury made it sound like he would be back playing this season - after about 4 weeks. How long is the canadian season?

13 weeks left in the cfl season it is 18 weeks long regular season. I went to this game, and went only to see Ricky, what a waste of money that was.

No. If you watch the play, he put his arm out as he was falling face first into the ground. He broke his arm hitting the ground.

Edit: Here's the clip.

 Short answer: No.

Sometimes a guy will just come down on an arm wrong, and it breaks. No matter how strong you are....

Simple as that.

Or maybe they were gunning for him.

No doubt about that. These guys want to make a name for themselves and one way to do that is hammer an NFL star. Can't really blame them. I too hope RW misses the rest of their season. Best of both worlds, he'll get the money he needs and no more wear and tear. Even though he has looked a bit lackluster in the CFL, I still believe he'll be strong when he is back next year. Nick will bring the best out in him.

Argos President expects Ricky to return: http://www.cfl.ca/index.php?module=newser&func=display&nid=10037

The CFL season goes until the end of October. The playoffs are the first 3 Sundays of November. 4-6 weeks means Ricky can be ready to go anytime between late August (August 19 at home to Montreal is 4 weeks to the day, August 25 in Winnipeg is more realistic) and mid-September (Sept. 4 at Hamilton is just over 6 weeks later, making Sept. 9 hosting Hamilton more realistic).

As for how it happened, people talk about how the turf in Saskatchewan is harder than other stadiums. It wasn't so much the hit that injured Ricky, it's what he landed on.

The Argos have 13 games left, I'd say Ricky will be in at least 6 of those, if John Avery plays like he has since we signed him...
