Anyone else think that Ricky is truly determined to succeed? I believe that he came back because he was forced to, but I think that now he is here, he is determined to succeed. I think it is all here in this one quote...
"Any talking that I do or that you guys do is for naught, really, because ... the people's minds are going to be made up when they see me on the field. That's this business... When I produce, then all this stuff goes away. Until then, I have to deal with it."
Now he comes back and has decided not to talk to the media until after the game...
It will be hard vs. the Bucs D. But IMO, I think he is truly determined to do well and to do well in this game. He has been waiting for it, so he can shut up everyone in the media who has been harrassing him for the last year and a half. I think that is his mentality right now. If I produce, they will leave me alone, which we all know, Ricky wants more than anything...

thoughts?

Ricky is an enigma. i don't think anyone will ever figure him out.

he did state the obvious though - he could get away with murder as long as he produces on the field, the fans don't seem to care once he blows by the secondary. ;)

I just think Ricky has been hating life for the past year and a half having to deal with all the **** especially from the media. IMO He cant wait to end it and Sunday is his first opportunity to do so...

anyone else agree or no?

i will agree on the fact those are the most determined and promising words out of his mouth since 2003.

I am excited. In the preseason, we saw that he still had his vision and cutting ability that made him so good. All he didnt have was his size. Now he has that! Im not saying he is gunna come in and run wild against the #1 rushing D, its gunna be tough.

My only worry about Ricky though was if he was gunna run hard or just kinda go though the motions once he came back since he was kinda forced to. But now I believe that he is gunna be running extremely hard...

I dont think we need to worry about what Ricky will do in the field.

I honestly don't think he cares, about peoples opinions. I think he cared too much when he retired. Along with learning that quitting football was a mistake, worrying about what people thought was also a mistake.

Part of his social disorder is worrying...about everything. I think he has found a way to deal with that anxiety. By doing so, he can free his mind to focus on his carrer and goals. I think his focus on doing what he wants to do has taken his mind off his disorder giving him a different frame of mind. This may sound corny, but with a social disorder you create your own anxiety it's more of a self infliction then a chemical one.

By doing his yoga and using his mind to relax, so to speak, he can make himself better.
Ricky is a very smart person, you can tell by the fact that when Mike Wallace was trying to bait Ricky into looking like a fraud or wishy washy, Ricky was not only calm and clear in his responses, but his answer were not contradictory. Mike Wallace said of Ricky after the second interview, and said this to Ricky's face..."you're very intelligent, do you know that?" Mike was not being saecastic, but very respectful of Ricky. Ricky just smiled and said thank you, with a bit of a modest tone.

All in all, Ricky is one of my favorite players you can go back through many of my posts when he retired and I've always defended him. Ricky, IMO owes us nor the team a damn thing. All of us go to work every day and do any of us feel like we are letting Ricky down by the decisions we make in our lives?? I don't think so, so why do some fans feel like Ricky owes them a thing?? This is a sport and we are passionate about the sport, but that does not give us the right to judge. What ever reason Ricky chose to return is his own business and we have no right to impose our short comings on him or any other player.

Just for the record, this is just my opinion.

I realy dont think he was ever a bad guy, just introverted with a head coach he didnt feel he could talk to. If there had been better comunication I dont think he would have ever left. And I agree, he is a very inteligent guy.

Y aknow what cracks me up incessantly over this whol RW thing, coming back, yadda yadda??

The fact the media has to sit and harp on this crap....but meanwhile they said practically nothing...and still say nothing....about Jamal Lewis. Especially considering the fact Jamal Lewis has looked like garbage this year.

I agree that he doesnt care what people think about him, however I still think he hated being constantly harrassed about everything. I dont care who you are, its still gotta suck...
