Starter
1. CB Sean Smith - Utah
At over 6"3, Smith is a physically impressive corner with lots of upside and he should remarkably improve with pro level coaching. May take until his second season for him to blossom but he should become a top corner in the NFL. CB is the biggest need on the roster bearing in mind we face Lee Evans, TO, Welker and Randy Moss twice a season.
2a. WR Kenny Britt - Rutgers
A big and physical reciever to compliment Ted Ginn and help the phins out with those tough yards over the middle. Not great speed but productive and is a good downfield blocker. Will become the player that Ernest Wilford should of been in Miami.
2b. DT Ron Brace - Boston College
Brace has good size and has the potential to become a very good pro NT. Conditioning has been a concern but under the guidance of Sparano and co, this will improve. Not a player that will rack up the sacks for us but he prove to be an able player within the d-line rotation before taking over from Jason Ferguson for the long term.
3. OLB Cody Brown - UConn
An athletic and productive pass rusher that will spell and eventually replace Joey Porter. Has the potential to add some bulk to fit the Parcells prototype and could contribute on special teams in the short term.
4. ILB Frantz Joseph - FAU
6-1, 242: An intense, physical three-year starter who made 154 tackles (84 solo) in 2008. Not great forty speed but has good football speed with a nose for the ball. Should be able to contribute on special teams.
5. OT Jason Watkins - Florida
Tall, athletic left tackle build with long, well-built arms and quick feet. Has been inconsistent but that can be rectified. Has experience at both tackle spots so has the versatility that the phins coaches like. Has upside and will get better under the tutorlege of pro coaches.
6. S Darcel McBath - Texas Tech
With Yeremiah Bell aging and his injury history, it would be wise to get some insurance should he go down again. McBath has plenty of experience and has been productive at college. Not great size but he is athletic and is an all-round solid player. Also has special teams experience.
7a. CB Dominique Johnson - Jackson State
Johnson has good speed and size and is athletic and productive but will be a longer term project for Miami. Has not played against top competition but does have good physical attributes.
7b. DE Rulon Jones - Cal
Jones has good size and athleticism. Has a poor injury history but has displayed first day talent. An overage rookie (25) he will add needed depth on the d-line.
