Right Guard?

Anderson tomarrow, by seasons end though I think it will be toledo

TOLEDO 4 life!

he won't start tomorrow but he will be starting soon.

I am pretty unfamiliar with our blocking schemes, do we pull our guards a lot of the time or is it mostly man-up blocking? Toledo's mobility would be terrific for pulling, but he IS a rookie, and a 4th rounder at that.

I believe when Houck was the line coach at san diego he started two rookies.

And, as usually does, Tomlinson ran for over 1000 easily

I am not doubting that Houck would start rookies, not too many coaches aren't willing to start rookies. See: Jets this year, Pats last year

Toledo may be a little more raw than your average rookie, but he may also be a little more natural than your average rookie. I could see him starting this year.

The only reservation I have about Toledo is how raw he is, as CK said. He made the transition from TE to Tackle, now he's playing guard. However, I believe it would be more than fair to say that Toledo is better/further along than Berger and Alabi. I would give Toledo the nod any day over them at either tackle OR guard.

I am really looking forward to seeing his technique, his drive and his leverage. If he gets the blocking with hands down, good leverage and always pumping the feet I think he could start his rookie year if he can remember the plays.

If toledo would begin to start all we would just have to focus on would be Lt in the future.
Lt: ??
Lg: James
C: Hadnot
RG: Toledo
Rt: Carey

I'm not expecting to see much in technique at all from him, I'm expecting to see a guy that has a job to do and he's gonna do what it takes within his impressive body to do that job.

I know technique is a big important thing but technique is just there to help you do your job...some guys with the most impressive physical traits don't have impressive technique and might even be hindered by it.

Just think about this. As much of a freak as they were all saying Haloti Ngata is, Joe Toledo is his offensive line equivalent. If you lined up their Combine measurables right now I would hardly be able to tell the difference...

Joe Toledo
Ht: 6054
Wt: 337

20: 2.99
10: 1.80
Bn: 32
Vt: 29
Bj: 8'3"
SS: 4.65
3C: 7.90

Haloti Ngata
Ht: 6041
Wt: 338
40: 5.13
20: 2.96
10: 1.73
Bn: 37

3C: 7.97

The most significant difference between them is that Ngata did a foot longer broad jump. Overall I'd probably give Ngata the SLIGHT edge...but it's very clear that these two guys represent the most athletic "big men" in this year's draft.

Well I am not talking about college technique. I mostly want to see foot drive and leverage. I don't care how amazing you are if you have bad foot drive and leverage you are not going to be a good offensive lineman. Hand placement is good, especially for not getting called holding. Basically you want to see the hands inside around the chest so he won't be called for holding a lot. Pass blocking techinique would be interesting and if he has "the feel" and the communication with Hadnot or Smith as that is important in picking up blitzes.
