Rishard Matthews trade speculation.

'He could be used as trade bait' sounds like a lot of speculation.

If we can get a decent young TE, I'd make the trade. TE is probably our weakest unit on offense imo, and we have no depth there. If Simms goes down or doesn't properly develop, we have no TEs that can block. We really need to have that 2nd blocking TE for short yardage, goaline situations, or if our OTs need pass protection help. I expect us to sign a TE by opening day.

I don't like the idea of trading Mathews but a tight end im interested in is Ryan Griffen of Houston...I doubt they will cut him but he'd be a good fit in trade for a late round value

Speaking of Houston I got done with some texans work last night Tyson clabo thank god we didn't sign him he's stiff as a board...

Another name I would be interested in should he be cut cb tony carter of the broncos...

Sure doesn't sound like thigpens spot is in jeopardy

A blocking only tight end that looks like he will be cut bear pascoe of the falcons...

This just sounds like one of those moves that comes back to bite us in the ass later. If you're considering a trade atleast make it a position of need like linebacker.

Agreed. Mathews is really inconsistant but I don't think our WR group is that deep. If Hartline doesn't get back up to speed then we would need to rely on Gibson and Williams. I just don't think Matthews brings much to the table.

It doesn't sound like the Dolphins are considering it, but just a thought from Jackson...

Not meant as a slight on Hartline but would rather they trade him as I see Matthews having more upside and one of the few receivers we have outsdie of Landry who can go up and high point a ball.

I think I'd rather they trade hartline also...but I doubt anyone wants that contract...this offense I kinda wonder if hartline really fits anyways...I'm tired of the to the sticks come back and bait opportunities he provides a d and he doesn't really have the versatility you want or toughness

I would as well...looks like a duck out of water in this O....This teams needs guys who will fight through coverage and take hits...and work on RAC....three guys can...Hartline is not one of them. Wallace adds value with his speed, what does Hartline add?

That's a disgusting idea. I'm going to throw up if we trade 18 for a backup!!!!

Curious, How is Matthews "really inconsisant" again?

I'd feel very uncomfortable with this move. I see Matthews as being a young, solid contributor that could eventually become a starter.

The versatility to line up just about anywhere is needed also...hartline working around lbs on the inside is a kill target...I'm trying to think of other teams 2nd and 3rd tight ends that are interesting

Or we just wait and draft jake McGee who I know lazor likes from his days at UVA

If the 9ers would part with Vance McDonald I'd be interested but they don't need wr help and Mathews wouldn't be enough given he was a 2nd round pick

McDonald would be a nice fit though

Honestly I think Ryan Griffen is the way to go...3rd tight end who can make plays late round value...not an in line blocker though
