Rivals 25 toughest schedules

Interesting, but toughest schedules don't mean much. At this time last year, everyone was talking how UF had the toughest schedule. They went out only lost one game and won the NC...

Besides, what looks tough now may not be. For example if teams that are historically tough have a down year... Makes the schedule easier. Just look at any team that played UM and FSU last year. Normally playing those two teams are TWO losses. Last year however... Not so much.

Everyone in the SEC has a tough schedule. I was surprised to see the Huskies at #1 tho.

I wonder if it factors in how good the team is supposed to be, relative to thier schedule?

Because I would think that if the people thought the Huskies had a bad team, that would mean thier schedule was that much tougher.

:hmmm: I don't get it.
Schedules are independent of the team playing them. The teams on the schedule are either good, or they're not. Obviously if USC and Stanford played the same schedule, it would be tougher for Stanford, but the strength or toughness of the schedule doesn't change.

The Huskies are suppose to have a decent team. Not good, But not bad either. I was just alittle surprised to see them there

I think you meant UNLV, but yes you're right. My perception of strength of schedule was wrong, in that I was thinking how good the team who's schedule it was affected how difficult it was.

Yeah, I started off with a UNLV comparison, but decided to stay in conference.

Part of me wishes that FSU would just schedule easy home games to complete their out of conference schedule (ala Michigan) but I guess that would go against their tradition. I suppose that going to Florida and playing Alabama at a neutral site will only make their team stronger.

So let me get this right....

I'm not sure how a schedule that includes Oklahoma, texas a&m, florida state, boston college, and virginia tech is easier than one that includes Pitt, Louisville, Rutgers, and USF.

Mind boggling.

They are probably going on how they finished last year and kinda what they expect this year (My Guess). If that is the case it does make sense.

I strongly disagree with that. The only tough game is home - Louisville - while Miami goes into Norman, Tallahassee, Blacksburg, and Chestnut Hill. The strength of those schedules isn't even debatable. Rutgers was a flash in the pan, and they'll lose 5-6 games this year.

Rutgers was not a flash in the pan. They will be tough again this year they just need to find better QB play.

i would say it's definately a tougher schedule. the big east is underestmated in what they can do. Rutgers and USF being to of the most underrated teams until recently for rutgers where they caught a break in the rankings.
Yea rutgers could lose 4-5 games next year playing Luisville WVU and USF is already 3 potential losses any one of those three teams also has three potential in conference losses right there as well. I think it also has a lot to do with some of the worse teams. See you're only looking at the top teams on each schedule. Duke and North Carolina both are almost laughable and while syracuse cincinatti and uconn are all not the greatest teams, they are looked at as strong up and comers though

"2. South Carolina Game****s

South Carolina Schedule

Date Opponent
Sept. 1 La.-Lafayette
Sept. 8 at Georgia
Sept. 15 S. Carolina St.
Sept. 22 at LSU
Sept. 29 Miss. State
Oct. 4 Kentucky
Oct. 13 at North Carolina
Oct. 20 Vanderbilt
Oct. 27 at Tennessee
Nov. 3 at Arkansas
Nov. 10 Florida
Nov. 24 Clemson

Combined record of Division I-A opponents: 84-57 (.596)
Bowl teams: Seven
Home games: Seven
AP Top 25 teams: Five (one at home)
Division I-AA teams: One

Why they're No. 2: The Southeastern Conference features so many tough teams that its members dominate this list, but South Carolina's schedule is the toughest in the league. The Game****s must face Georgia, Louisiana State, Tennessee and Arkansas - all on the road. By the time the Game****s finally return home for good, they must welcome defending national champion Florida and rival Clemson in a pair of emotionally charged games. Steve Spurrier appears to have the Game****s on the verge of contention in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division, but he could have a hard time challenging for a title this year because the schedule is so demanding"

:D Rivals even hints that Darth Visor is building the Game****s into an SEC East contender. But our schedule is indeed brutal, so a similar finish to last year would probably mean they are a better team this year. That early Georgia game will, as always, set the tempo for our season. If we beat UGA, look for us to upset either LSU, Tennessee, or Florida again. Most likely Tennessee, as Spurrier is still deep in Fulmer's head.

Go Game****s!!!
