Robert Gallery said today that he will become a F/A. It also looks like he is looking for a big payday. I would be very happy if we signed him as a FA to fill the hole at LG.

"With the end of the league year coming today, and the few conversations I've had with the Raiders and Mr. Davis, we've come to a mutual agreement that it's time for me to move on with my career," Gallery said Thursday from his home in the Oakland area. "I appreciate the start that they and Mr. Davis gave me and I truly have enjoyed my time wearing the silver and black. I wish them well, I thank the fans and I take away great memories of my time in Oakland."
Raiders senior executive John Herrera told The Associated Press on Thursday the decision was made because of the vast difference in contract proposals. Herrera says Gallery was seeking about $8 million a season while Oakland was willing to offer about $2.5 million.

Raiders fans hate this guy, but he is arguably their best lineman and he would help fill a major hole at LG. He is already like 30 so that is a bit scary . . . guess you can throw him in as an option but our luck with Raiders FA's have not been good at all (Gerbil and Glass Groves).

My money is on he signs with Seattle.

Hes ok...wouldn’t be disappointed with this signing but wouldn’t be overly excited either. At the same time he must have been doing something right to get McFadden all those yards this past year.

he would be our second best o lineman that's 4 sure

Ok not that good of a Left Tackle maybe, but if i remember correctly the guy really accelled when they moved him inside. He also did pretty good at right tackle.

miami and pitt where the only teams to shut down raiders running game
mcfadden avg 5.1 per rush

I'd rather take TE Zach Miller off of the Raider's hands if he becomes available. Gallery is ok, but not worth $8 million a season. We would have a huge left side of the line if we did add him.

There seem to be plenty of real good Guards in this draft so unless your "breaking the bank" for C.Nicks I'd rather go the route of the draft.

Too much money for him. He's very similar to Shockey in free agency. They are both big names from older players who are more injury prone now. Look elsewhere for a guard.

Why would you have to break the bank for Nicks ? He is a restricted free agent given probably a first round tender. Since he signed with New Orleans out of the draft though, New Orleans has the rigt of first refusal on him by any team. Nobody is going to give up a first round pick for him and pay him, nobody.

lets see how the draft goes. i wouldnt mind him, but i certainly wouldnt pay him big money.
