Dolphins should ask Merling to drop weight and tell him if he can get in peak shape and earn the starting spot in the 4-3 sets at DE, he gets an extension. Extend Long and Wake as well.
What shouldn't happen now?
Dolphins should NOT sign any mediocre veteran QB's or any other old worthless players like Artis Hicks. Where does Artis Hicks fit in the rebuild? Ireland is such an idiot.
Dolphins should sign a few of the younger FA's still out there. Guys like:
CB Tracy Porter...and excellent choice for nickel CB who could play the edge as well. Leave Richard Marshall to FS
WR Early Doucet....I'm predicting a breakout year for Early.
OLB Manny Lawson... One of the, if not the best coverage LB in the league. Integral piece in stopping Gronk,Welker and Hernandez.

Draft: In the draft the Dolphins need to trade down even if they get screwed in the deal. The players ranked in the 5-12 area just don't fit. I gues Cinci trading up for a CB or Richardson has been speculated. Two seconds would be nice, but a 2nd and 3rd may have to do. Dolphins get the 21st pick. Dolphins trade the third from Cinci to the Rams and trade up to the top of the 2nd.
