NE game: pass attempts: 32 Rushing attempts: 38 = Win 33 points
Buffalo game: pass attempts: 49 rushing attempts:21 = Loss 10 points
KC game: pass attempts: 43 rushing attempts: 20 = Loss 15 points

Why cant a Pro NFL head coach figure that one out???

Forget stats. When Knowshon Moreno went down, so did this team. He is the reason we beat New England. Breaking tackles, fighting for extra yards, refusing to go down... he gave us an attitude to win.

This team responded to its inspirational leader on that day. When he went down, so did our desire.

He is the only player on offense that played with unbridled passion. If Lamar Miller had Moreno's attitude he could get 1,500 yards easy.

Why are we blaming the head coach? Doesnt the OC call the plays here?

Agreed but Miller was doing great against KC.

+1

Moreno is a mad man that inspires his team. Something we are missing BIG TIME.

Rocket science eh? More like jumping to conclusions. If you look through this list you should notice rushing percentage does not automatically mean great team. The great teams are scattered throughout the list from the top right to the bottom. What I notice is all the great teams have great QBs and rushing percentage does not correlate with winning at all.

It is really bizarre that we have almost as many rushing yards as passing yards while rushing at such a low frequency. I believe we're actually second in terms of rushing yard percentage behind only Dallas who rushes at a much higher frequency.

Rocket science for me: Great QBs make great teams. Period.

I think what he's pointing out there is that the winning formula for every team that isn't quarterbacked by Drew Brees or Peyton Manning is a balance of run and pass. The fact that Miami has thrown the ball about 70% of the time in the last 2 games despite the fact that the passing game isn't working should be an indication that the team needs to have more balanced playcalling.

Whats bizarre is that we keep passing twice as much anyway... Didnt start this thread to turn it into a QB thread because we dont have any at the moment... Now if you think Matt Moore would be succesful in this type of unbalanced attck then we`ll just agree to disagree. All Im saying is that our strategy is flawed right now and i have no doubt the offense as is would be alot more successfull if it included alot more rushing plays...

If we ran a 30/30 offense with Matt Moore under center, we would win 90% of our games.

I have no doubt we would win a good portion of them, maybe not 90%. But then again, we could try to do that with tannehill first...

I think its a chicken/egg thing. I think the only reason a lot of the teams with elite QBs end up more in the middle is because there is a tipping point where defenses sell out to stop the pass and there is too much value in the running game to pass it up. That and when they build leads they pound the clock with the running game. It is interesting if you look through the years that Sean Payton seems to be the only coach that never deviates from passing at such a high percentage. Personally, I think besides Payton most coaches with elite QBs are still too nitty and they should just keep passing at around 65% regardless of the defense shown.

What are the run/pass numbers in the second half?

We have had to play catch-up the last 2 games, so I'd expect more passing attempts in the second half. If we ran the ball 15 more times while we were down 2 scores I'm sure we would all be up in arms over that too. Its a catch-22.

Quite honestly, with the talent we have on paper we should be undefeated right now.

So what is stopping us? We have no heart. We have no desire. We have no leaders.

That is why Matt Moore is the better QB for us right now.

Forget ability. If/when he gets on the field, watch this team respond and score. Watch the execution on offense.

Analyze everything you want, we have no heart. We don't want to win.

With Moore and Moreno in the backfield, we'd be a serious threat to win the division. I like Tannehill, but I've seen enough right now. Let's get some W's and get this turned around immediately.
