Dolphins rookie Rodrique Wright returned to the practice field this week for the first time since May. But instead of his customary defensive tackle position, he's playing defensive end.

Wright, a seventh-round pick who underwent shoulder surgery after the Dolphins drafted him, says he has lost 19 pounds and weighs 297.

"I feel a lot quicker out there," he said. "The shoulder feels a little stiff, but for the most part it's about shaking the rust for not playing for a while."

The Dolphins have less than three weeks to decide whether to activate Wright to their 53-man roster or place him on the reserve/non-football injury list for the rest of the season.

This kid has talent, we'll see what he can do for us next season.

is there any chance he may get some playing time toward the end of this season?

activate the kid and let him play the last 4 games or so. He needs to get his feet wet. It will also boost his confidence in the shoulder.

Interesting....Strahan type of D.E.?
I get what you're saying but do you mean Strahan more when he was heavier (I see he's only listed at 255lbs now) as opposed to his lightweight self nowadays? Either way, I don't think anyone would mind a young version of Michael Strahan (Maybe about his fourth season and onwards) playing opposite Taylor. Well, we can dream...

They'd probably like to move him around the same way the Pats do with Richard Seymour.

i really like this kid. if we goes DE that would be great.

I was really excited to draft him, when I saw his name on the draft day ticker goin to Miami I was very excited about the future

Could be great, could be a project. I think he'll be battling for a spot on the DL next year, but for now we need to let him develope. With that said, I'd still like to see him get some playing time if he's healthy enough to get out there. Either way, this is good news....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

yea same here. he was a round 1 guy till about half way thru and towards the end stlipped to round 2 and as far as 3 but was said he dropped to 7th due to taht injury.

what a steal bell and wright may be with 7 and 6th round picks (or was it a 5th for bell).

There's not a whole lot of difference between our CE and DT spots. When he was drafted Saban said he could play either of them. Kevin Vickerson currently plays both. Kevin Carter does too.

Saban's probably working him at CE because of how much weight he's dropped.

I know this is off topic CK, but considering you are one of the most knowledgeable football gurus on this board, who do you pick to win the fins/ chiefs game this weekend? I think Miami will slip back into their old ways this game and lose ( I hope I am wrong though), but I wanted your expert opinion or a link to a post you may have already written on this subject. Gracias mi amigo.
