I haven't seen this posted, and it's kind of burried in this article but Rodrique Wright has been cleared to practice with the team. I for one am very intrigued by this pick, because going into the Draft he was considered a top DT and his stock fell.

"The Dolphins also released practice squad tackle Tony Pape, a 2004 seventh-round draft choice, and cleared rookie defensive tackle Rodrique Wright to return to practice. The Dolphins have three weeks to decide whether to elevate Wright to their 53-man roster "

That's huge!! I really think Wright can be a steal. He's going to be playing with a chip on his shoulder.

We might be at the point where Saban should consider bumping Wilkinson down the depth chart and give the young guys more play. I'm anxious to see what Wright does next year,

Ironic statement:wink:

^haha i know right... but yeah i think rodrique could be a good player for us, i was high on him before the draft, i was even high on him the previous years draft before he decided to stay in school...

He was an animal at Texas, should have gone in the first round of this year's draft, but at the combine they discovered he had been playing at Texas with a shoulder injury, and his stock plummeted. He should be in great shape next season and give us three young talented defensive linemen so we can get rid of some of older Vets, cut salary, and get some speed.

Great to see him cleared to practice. DT R. Wright was a very solid player in college. He was passed over in the draft because of the fact that he had to have surgery, and was expected to miss the entire 2006 season for rehab purposes. He's a great player, and if he gets healthy, I expect him to be battling for a starting position on the DL in 2007....

PHINZ RULE!!!

The Dolphins also released practice squad tackle Tony Pape, a 2004 seventh-round draft choice, and cleared rookie defensive tackle Rodrique Wright to return to practice. The Dolphins have three weeks to decide whether to elevate Wright to their 53-man roster or stash him on the reserve/ non-football injury list. They are expected to sign guard Dan Stevenson, a recently released New England practice squad player, to replace Pape.

what i dont get is why did he drop all the way to the 7th round? yes he was gonna miss the season but a potential 1st round player a year later i dont think would warrent a drop that far, maybe a 4th rounder, 5th rounder... i mean mcgahee when he was drafted it was clear he was gonna miss a year or maybe more but he still went first round...

i dont know, its something that ive always wondered about that whole situation...

I hope this isn't another example of rushing a player back too soon...whats the hurry?

From the things I read and heard he dropped because he wasn't as a consistent player in his senior year and the injury combined. My opinion is that Saban's' thinking is that this guy didn't perform as well in his senior year because of the injury, and it also shows that he's pretty tough to play through with the injury he had.

You know he could actually make this roster. The Dolphins are currently overweight at the DT position and that means that basically if Rod Wright can prove more worth than Kevin Vickerson, he could end up on the roster.

Right now we've got 3 DLs that just never even get activated...Vickerson, Evans, and Zgonina. Jeff got activated for the Chicago game because he was a native but otherwise he's been inactive.

I think Vickerson's beatable.

Why not all 3 making the team next year. Hear me out, because I know your one of the resident experts.

You don't think there is a chance that Vickerson and Rodrigue Wright could replace Zgonina and Holliday. I think they are adding weight to Fred Evans so he can replace Traylor in the future. I also don't expect David Bowens to be here next year either, unless he takes a pay cut. What do you think?
