Shawne Merriman added some thoughts of his own when responding to criticism from fellow NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate Jason Taylor, telling the North County Times, "I sent (Taylor) a 'Lights Out' hat and a 'Lights Out' T-shirt and a bag of popcorn so he can watch us in the playoffs."

Super Bowl is in Miami also. Shawn might get hte last laugh on JT's field holding up a trophy!!!

No JT spoke the truth. Hopefully Merriman won't win it with SD in Miami. The point is right. It sends the wrong message to give an award to a player who knowingly broke the rules. JT for Defensive player of 2006!

no, JT did the right thing. Champ Bailey followed suit as he too commented on whether merriman should be in contention for any award. Members of the media should've also pressed this as an issue, but they're too freakin busy with what TO is doing. Merriman might win the Super Bowl, but it wont be cuz of him (Chargers went 4-0 w/o him).

Bailey has come out and said same thing as JT. When great defensive players can back up what they say then i dont have a problem with it. Merriman was banned for banned substance so he's the one who should shut the hell up!! Liked his reply though with the playoff jibe. hehe
 
That is a great response from Merrimane. JT opened up a can of worms. I think he needs to keep his mouth shut and just play football. He lost some credibility on this and he's not as classy as I thought.
 
champ bailey agrees with jt

i was reading in the new york daily news that champ bailey agrees with jt about merriman.he said he thinks its wrong if he wins the award and if all the voters knew about him cheating.just thought i let every 1 know that jt isnt the only other player complaining about merriman...well have a happy and safe new year every 1 !!!!

And it's classy to take a performance-enhancing drug and accept an award for performance? JT gained further credibility and class, in my eye's.
