The Miami Herald is reporting that Ron Edwards, a nt/dt from Buffalo, is visiting Miami. He only played in 3 games last season. Anyone know why? He has definite size at 320 lbs. plus. He was a part-time starter other years, but I figured Malarky might have informed the Dolphins of his abililities.

I don't know this guy at all.

living here in Bills country :boohoo: I remember Edwards as the guy they were pretty high on. They let Pat Williams go to the Vikes because in Edwards limited snaps he looked really good. Unfortunately he got injured and was a non factor.

Yep has had trouble staying healthy. Has the size to play on the nose in our system, and has flashed some good ability at times during his career.

Depending on the contract he would make a solid backup at the NT spot, and if we kept Traylor next year he would make sense as insurance (considering the likelyhood of Traylor missing time during the season).

Thus if he has recovered Mularkey would know his potential. He might be a cheaper, younger alternative than Sam Adams as depth behind Traylor until we see if Vickerson can play NT in the pros.

Looks like it could add nice young depth to the DT position- he got hurt this year but his potential is a big reason they let Pat Williams walk.

Other than Adams, he is about all that is left...

Unless you make a trade, which I doubt Miami will do. Now you have an interesting situation. Not able to sign a backup DT, do you draft one? Now that you dont' have Peterson, do you draft a LB? Edwards may become a very important signing.

draft strategy should change if we can't get either JP or LA...someone like Manny Lawson or Chad Greenway at 16th then becomes a strong possibility. So, I would go for LB in 1st, and possibly OL in 3rd.

I really think its great that we bring in guys like this. To me this is showing Saban exploring EVERY option out there. Like my sig says, he's not looking for the best players, he's looking for the right ones. That is what will make us a successful team.
