OFF the field....this is a great story about Ronnie helping the youth of south Florida.

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — Ronnie Brown just had to come here, to this sprawling middle school campus about 40 miles north of Miami where 600 kids at an assembly hang on his every word.
Violence brought him here.
In October 2009, Michael Brewer, a 15-year-old student at Deerfield Beach Middle School, was sprayed with rubbing alcohol and lit on fire in an off-campus incident stemming from a beef over a video game. Over 75% of his body was burned.
In March, Josie Lou Ratley, 15, suffered permanent brain damage when he was beaten outside the school by a student from another school who allegedly received a disparaging text message from Ratley about his brother, who had committed suicide. Ratley, an eighth-grader, was stomped with steel-toe boots.
Those horrifying incidents, and others involving area youth, struck a nerve with the Miami Dolphins' star running back.

Ken Walton, assistant principal at Fort Lauderdale's Dillard High School, thinks Brown's presentation might have saved a life.
On the Monday morning after Brown's visit Oct. 12, Walton said several students alerted administrators of an issue that had escalated over the weekend. A student was apparently planning to commit suicide. Walton said school officials intervened and the student was receiving help.
"The fact that they came forward," Walton said, "I think that was a result of the kids being exposed to the program."

Ronnie is a real stand up guy . . . always been active in the community and is a good guy overall. People who tend to dislike him throw that DUI in his face, but it is a mistake that many people do every day/night and I'm sure he learned his lesson. IMO, that doesn't take away from the positive character he has always displayed.

Ronnie has struggled this year, but really, the entire run game has been awful. It was real nice to see Cobbs in there as a "receiving" option . . . and I think we need to get Ronnie involved in the passing game as well. The wildcat will still be in the fold with the QB issues so he is still very important to this offense . . . despite his pedastrian numbers.

On a positive note, NOBODY pass protects like Ronnie at RB on this team, NOBODY. With Jake Long beat up, that will be more key than ever. I just read in the Fasano thread how despite his inconsistency catching the ball, he has been a great blocker, which is true, and I think it gets overlooked how solid Ronnie is in pass pro. I have seen him stop LB's cold in their tracks . . . safety and CB? forget about it. That asset will be key going forward.

Take the shock value somewhere else....we are your fellow fans and don't appreciate being mislead.
ON the field, in other news, RB is having a terrible season!

very nice read about ronnie off the field, but its time for him to start looking like the number 2 overall pick from 2005.i know he has looked like that at times in his career, such as the 07 season until he got hurt, the 08 season with the wildcat, last year until he got hurt, but this year he has not looked so great running.

i want to see the old ronnie brown who used to run over people.

Ronnie needs to touch the ball 20 times a game period. I have said this for the last couple of years. Look at the Dolphins win/lose record when Ronnie gets the ball 20-25 times. Not only the Dolphins win/lose but how productive Ronnie is. He’s not having a good year because we are not using him right. It is obvious when the Dolphins are going to run the ball and when we don’t. We need to mix it up and as the game goes on Ronnie gets better when he gets more touches. I am tired of this Ronnie first possession Ricky second possession garbage. Let’s get some consistency and….

GIVE RONNIE THE ****ING ROCK!!

Believe it or not, their is more important things than football.

I agree, you need players who represent the Miami Dolphins positively, on and off the field. Ronnie made one real bad mistake, and I'm sure he regrets it, but just keep being the good guy that you are off the field, and keep running people over on the field. I rather that than some of the other garbage you hear off the field every offseason.

His numbers being low this year is far from being 100% his fault. There are major issues on the interior of this line, and it is real disappointing to be honest. Don't know if we commit to him long term, but I wish him well no matter what. Real good guy.
