The one that makes ya feel alright
Chris Chambers is a bum, Booker isn't a good #2 receiver, JT is overrated, Zach Thomas is overrated, Mularkey is a bum.
Ok, now that we got the B.S. knee-jerk stuff out of the way, let's talk about our real problems, of which there are two primary ones and one slightly less significant (IMO)
1. Secondary can't cover anybody
2. O-Line can't open holes for Ronnie or protect Duante
Those are the two glaring trouble spots and are no surprise at all. If you'd asked 100 people before the season to name our two trouble spots, probably 97 of them would have said "Secondary and O-Line."
3. run defense wasn't as good as advertised.
So all that said, we went on the road, against the defending world champs, with a QB starting his first game since week 5 of last season.. and had the lead after 54 minutes of play. The the Steelers stepped up and made a couple of big plays.
All told, for the first game of the season, give the circumstances, I'm not *too* disappointed. The problems we had were exactly what we should have expected for the most part, and we were still fighting tooth and nail with the defending champs.
I'm going to assume that Saban, Houck and Co. can "coach up" these guys to a higher level of performance than what we saw tonight. If so, and give our fairly tame schedule, I still don't see any reason to think we're not a playoff team this year, barring injuries or some other unforseen circumstance.
Oh, and somebody give Wes Welker a game ball, loss or not. That kid did everything in his power to try and win.
