Let me first start off by saying how much I respect Brown's unique talents in the wildcat and overall professionalism. However, if he is indeed going to miss significant time I think it could potentially help our offense's development both now and down the road. Chad Henne needs as many reps as possible and even though he seems not to be too upset with taking a few plays off here and there, many of us believe finding and sustaing a rythym is hard enough as a QB in the NFL without sporadic (or perhaps, Sporan-ic) breaks. How many times over the last few weeks did we see Henne make a couple of big throws then to watch the momentum dissolve after a 2-3 yard loss off of a faulty gadget play?
Secondly, I miss seeing Ricky handle the rock 20+ times a game, beating down the defense, breaking off back-breaking runs in the fourth quarter and setting the tone of the game. Also, I have always felt his style of running is best suited going north/and south not running 15 yards to the sideline off a WC handoff.
Now if Henning doesn't waver and the Wildcat is indeed part of the team's DNA and we have to adapt, then second round investment Pat White can show us once and for all if he is a legit asset.
I may be a little too optimistic if Ronnie is on the shelf, but I can't say that I am devastated.

When you lose your best offensive player, it is NEVER good for your offense.

Yes and no. It will be good to see Henne handle more snaps if Ronnie isn't running the wildcat. But it is NOT good to be without Ronnie. I think you may be underrating his value to the team. He is one of the 2 best offensive players we have. Don't see how that is a positive.

Also, Ricky has been running well. But we don't know that he can handle the full load like he once did. He's looked really good because he's fresh. Thats what the type of running attack we have does. Keeps everyone nice and fresh but lessens your carries per game. I guess we'll see what happens.....but hopefully Ronnie won't be out for longer than this next game.

No Ronnie being out is not good for the offense. I really don't think Chad Henne is being affected too much by coming off the field for a play or two.

If we had a talented wide receivers who Henne could throw it to, then I would say we should be focusing on our receivers and not as much on Ronnie running the Wild Cat. But I think given Ginn's drops and no deep threat, I think we have to run a ball control offense. We just have to make sure that once we score we don't give up a quick 6 the other way. This is what killed us against the Colts and Patriots. I don't think the Wild Cat is a gimmick but we need to add a little more to it and throw it more. Ronnie made a big fumble which really hurt, but without RB we would probably be a 2-7 team right now. We have to draft a #1 WR and then we won't need the Wild Cat as much. I hope White will get more looks next week against Carolina.

Pat white is a colossal failure. This team has 2 offensive weapons. Losing 1 isn't going to help. And they will be even more predictable w/o the wc. Going to be a major struggle this week.

Yeah, he's a colossal failure after 9 games :rolleyes2:

All I can say is thank God Ricky isnt off getting stoned anymore. He can carry the load now just like he could before, hes a beast. But Ronnie being out is not good for anything, except Henne's progression.

Absolutely not. The best friend of a young QB is a strong running game. Like they said above, losing your best offensive weapon is never a good thing. While Ricky has been resurgent this year, Ronnie has been making big plays as well. I think its overlooked because he doesnt run as hard as Ricky, but his patiences and ability to make people miss cannot be replaced.

We're not completely out of the playoff picture yet. Henne will get more reps if we do screw up the rest of the season. We will be out of it if we play like we did today again. We keep letting teams come from behind in the 2nd half! Sparano needs to hammer them about "finishing" and "playing 60 minutes" and all that this week.

Looking at the schedule....I think our schedule is much easier the rest of the way...we have the Pats one more time and the Steelers to end the season, but all the other games are very winnable, and I think the Pats and Steelers can also be beat. One game at a time. Carolina is looking better, but I think we can take them.

Sparano also needs to finish a game as the coach. Call plays to win the game, not to not lose the game. He plays it safe too much; that's why we tend to go flat in the second half.

So basically what you are saying is..

Manning being injured for the Colts would be a good thing for the Colts because then they could establish their run game!
