One thing that stuck out like a sore thumb last night is that Ronnie Brown is an animal in the redzone. He had 2 rushing touchdowns on 15 carries. He MUST get more carries (not unreasonable to think that he'd have gotten another one if he carried it 15 more times, either on our other redzone visit where we passed on every shot and then settled for Mare, or by taking us there on another drive because he's a superstar).

I really believe that this beast can break Shaun Alexander's record from last year (28 total touchdowns in a single season). He's currently on pace for 32 rushing touchdowns, and he doesn't play THE SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS every week.

This is an interesting question, but would you be unhappy if Ronnie finished the season with 1,036 rushing yards, 428 receiving yards and 34 total touchdowns?

I don't know, I was really really drunk last night, but after that second touchdown, I felt the same way while looking at Ronnie as I did while looking at Vince Young after he scrambled for that last touchdown against USC. It felt so good to know that he was ours, that Nick Saban wasn't afraid of taking a career backup 2nd overall in the draft and that he really seems to be the real deal.

SIDE NOTES

What's the harm in putting Jason Allen in there? He's fast and known to be a ballhawk. I have no problem moving Renaldo Hill to SS and inserting Allen NOW. Right now, let him learn, let him progress, let us have some young legs with some 4.39 speed out there in that free safety spot. You think he wouldn't have caught Heath Miller?

Could Channing Crowder benefit from losing some weight? I know he looks very thick these days (case in point: watch him when he stands next to Matt Roth and makes him look like a linebacker), but is that extra weight to the detriment of his speed? He didn't look very fast out there and as evidenced by one Joey Porter, a smart linebacker with instincts and speed is like a big bag of diamonds. Channing is smart (3.8 GPA @ UF), he's fast (4.5/4.6 40), but he's huge. When he stands straight up, he looks like a mermaid (his legs are so thick they touch the whole way down). I love Crowder. I want what's best for him. I think that would be weight loss of between 10 and 15 pounds. Take a page from Zach's book...get ripped!!

Marty Booker, I think, if I'm not mistaken, led the league in yards/catch last year. He averaged 21yds/catch last night. Throw him the ball more often!

Wes Welker is our little version of Reggie Bush, but much worse, but still...

Was Nick Saban's passive approach to challenging that play a calculated one? What could possibly have been the purpose there? It really looked like he intentionally underhand girl-tossed that flag. No offense to girls who either throw overhand or can toss underhand-rockets.

We need more great young players on our team.

Yea I still don't know why people were hating on Ronnie after the game. The guy scored 2 TD's and if you watched closely he ran right over Polamalu during one of his touchdown runs.

yea i agree. we did seem a lot slower this year for some reason. age is catching up and VERYYYY quickly might i say. Pitts is just TOOOOO fast on D. We aren't. our LB core is TOO SLOW. and ur gtn carried away wiht RB. relax. as ffor Crowder, he had 4 tackles, that isn't a GREAT LB in the making. he isn't a PLAYMAKER he just does the simple stuff which is tackle. he isnt a play making LB.

Is this like when someone hits two home runs on baseball's opening day and everyone says they are going to hit 300 plus homeruns for the year?

Ronnie definitely needed more carries last night but isn't going to score every 7.5 carries the entire season.

Wes Welker made most folks look silly last night...particularly the ones who were saying he wasn't going to make the team.

i dont think he will break the td record in his second year.not with this oline

Eh, highly doubt he will break the TD Record. If he does we would be superbowl contenders though.

Breaking the TD record LOL!

Welker made some nice returns, good job by him. Steelers did poor tackling on special teams. The 2 TDs were on or very close to the 1 yard line, Willie Parker could have easily scored those...most decent running backs could have.

my take on when/how he threw the flag is that he was waiting on word from the coaches in the booth that it was a play he should challenge (which he stated in his pc) and once he got that he was waiting for an official to look at him and see him throw the flag....that's why he was sort of pump-faking - they never turned around which led to him finally just tossing it out there.....there was no need for a "manly" throw......but there obviously was a need for him to do more to get the refs attention.

I love Ronnie Brown. I think he's a stud. But, I wouldn't start extrapolating stats from week 1 for the entire season for any player. At that pace Willie Parker would rush for almost 2,100 total yards. That's the same reason I wasn't as high on Larry Johnson as much as some others. Records are records for a reason, they're hard to break. With that being said, I'm not a hater. I've repeatedly said that I could expect 1400yds and 12-15 TD from Brown. This would be a pro-bowl year.

yea it seemed like he was VERY hessitent on it

He almost scored on the catch he had as well. I see him catching a bunch of balls this year. Culpepper loves to dump it off underneath. I loved watching him make people miss. What big back make moves like this!

They need to hand the ball off more and the OL needs to block for him.
