RONNIE PASSING RICKY?

Posted by Mike Florio on September 4, 2008, 10:01 a.m.
We’ve got bad news for all of you who drafted running back Ricky Williams based on the assumption that he’d be the starter in Miami.
Coach Tony Sparano suggested on Wednesday that this might not be the case.
You’ll have to buy a ticket and see,” Sparano said regarding the identity of his starting tailback. As to Ronnie Brown, the No. 2 overall pick in 2005, “All of a sudden, I see a little more burst.”
And since I went with Ricky the league I’m in with a bunch of family members who love to see me lose, that’s just great news.

Hey thats fine but if you ask me who is going to get the more carries its going to be Ricky! Ronnie will get 10 carries

I honestly don't care who starts. I expect bboth to get around thesame amount of carries. I care more about winning, and having two solid running backs is much better than having just one.

If you click on the link in the story (where Florio got is info from)....it is far from saying that Ronnie will start. It is just coach speak.

We need to let ronnie wear the jets down and ricky use his explosiveness once they're tired. IMO the most effective ratio would be 2:1 with Ronnie getting the bulk. Anyone got any other ideas on how you would use the 2 of them.

This is great news. Having the ability to platoon backs will help us greatly later in games.

Agreed, this is great news for us and causes problems for opposing defenses.

I also took Ricky in a couple of fantasy drafts thinking he would be the starter early in the season, but my fantasy teams can go to hell if it means the Dolphins win :)

Ronnie's coming off a knee injury, no way he's getting more touches than Ricky.

The job is Ricky's to lose.

How Florio and his website got so popular is beyond me. Wait, i know why, because people love to read a bunch of speculating dreamland crap. I've never read a writer who can twist, turn, embelish, speculate, or harp on a topic with a more ridiculous nature than this guy. I swear, so many times I've read his tidbits on his site and I just say; "WHAT?? Where the hell are you getting this "logical" explanation from?"

To me the cardinal rule going into this fantasy season was do not get either Miami running back unless you get both. It is to much of a headache to try to figure out which one is going to start. When we drafted in our league in Mid August my wife took Ronnie in like the 4th, and I whispered to her "You HAVE to get Ricky later on". She then gave me a semi by whispering back.."I know that".

A wife that not only likes football, but Loves the Dolphins. Gotta love it.

PS-Fortunatly we are in a league that starts 2 running backs and a flex position, so she is having both start.

Where did that come from? The Miami Herald was the first to post the news, so rant about them.

I don't understand why people hate PFT so much. The majority of what they post is accurate and usually has a link to back it up. Don't forget that it's called a "rumor mill". The site is one of the more entertaining out there in regards to football news. If you don't like them, just don't read them.

Doesnt matter who starts. Starting is just a formality. Both are gonna get carries and be pretty involved in the offense. Its good. Both guys get playing time and stay fresher....this is a good thing.

I don't know that I would start both, but depending on the size of your league I'd definitely consider handcuffing.
