On the "NFL Game of the Week" show on the NFL Network last night, they showed our game against Carolina. They broke down Ronnie's 58-yard run from the start of the play and pointed out that the play was supposed to go off the right side of the line, but that there was a huge hole on the left side that Ronnie spotted on his way to the line and cut back into.

We know the result -- 58 yards. If that isn't vision, what is?

he should have had the vision to know that his hamstring was gonan hurt more after 60 yrds and get another one from Hamstring R Us!

sheesh

I don't think its really called vision if it was planned that way. They broke the pre-planned play down for us on the saban show the other day. But still a great run.

If it was planned to go what way? It was planned to go the right and he cut back left. He did what wasn't planned according to the NFL Network.

It was a great run. And it was great blocking...

Yes, NFL Networks broke it down to make it seem like Ronnie had two options (two holes) to pick from. They implied he cut back to the left instead of hitting the hole to the right.

However, Hudson Houck, did break down the play on the Saban Show (Dolphin Insider) and explained the zone blocking scheme and how the play was by nature designed to start right to get the LB's to move in that direction. He stated it was designed as a cutback run once the LB's moved and allowed the LT,LG tandem to seal the backend LBs. This freed Ronnie to use his talent on the Safeties. Houck clearly was pleased with the power blocking of the Line, and was very impressed how Ronnie "beat on his own" both safeties.

So no matter which view you lean toward.....it was great blocking, great vision, and great running.

It is on the Dolphins insider. It is supposed to go to the left according to Houck. He moved to the right at first to get the linebackers to move to the right so by the time they realize the play was too the left the linemen were already on them blocking them. You also see that Randy McMichael kicked out the end on the left showing that is supposed to be a run to the left.

Not saying that Ronnie didn't show vision that game. He found the holes and he hit them and also bounced it outside when there wasn't a hole. I thought he had an excellent game all around.

It looks to me that overall he's been late finding the cutback. Ricky saw them much quicker. Maybe Ronnie will develop that intuition/vision in time.

That long run against Carolina was pretty sweet, though.

do you think he could have made it all the way if his hamstring was ok. Did he outrun everyone in college in the open field?

100% accurate. And that is one reason why E. Smith always looked to have HUGE holes to run through. It was a combination of the blocking scheme, allowing for huge cut back lanes (many times) and Smith's vision.

Hopefully we can get more of that going.

I agree, and if it hadn't been for the hammy I believe that would have been a 94 yard run.

Whats great is the tackles he breaks.

Houck broke down the play on the Nick Saban Show. Go look at it yourself. It was planned for Ronnie to run the way that he did because they were aware of the cut back lane that would develop when the entire D bit on both the OL blocking right and Ronnie taking the handoff on the right. I guess Houck could be lying, but I doubt it and I'd take what he said over what some "analysts" who weren't privy to the determinative process.

Saw that too, it was intended deception to make the defense think it was going right, it worked perfectly.
