whats the cap number for the 8th pick with the scale. doesnt it make more sense to draft a qb that pay 60 million to flynn. look what is happening in AZ. Kolb sucks and it sets them back way more. Missiing on a high priced free agent qb is much worse than missing on a qb at 8

Jake Locker as the 8th pick got a 4 year $12 million deal last year

my point exactly makes way more sense to draft a qb at 8 even if you reach a few spots than giving Flynn 60 million

Problem is, IMO anyway, you draft a rookie outside of Andrew Luck and it's going to take time before he's ready. Flynn is ready now. RGIII is going to start, but he isn't ready for an NFL system IMO. He may know all the plays, be able to draw them on a white board, but can he read defense, can he go through progressions, can he climb the pocket (which I haven't seen him do very often) while still looking to make the pass, can he break his habit of wanted to get out of the pocket to make his throws? These things take time. Same with Tannehill, who needs even more time than RGIII after having only 20 starts in college.

You can throw these rookies out into the fire when they're not ready but you may ruin them for good by doing so.

Anyway, 8th pick is going to cost us between $14-$10 million over 4 years. Locker got a bit more cause he's a QB...their salaries are always higher than other position players.

I don't think Flynn will get 60 mil, Yes Kevin Kolb got a big contract with only a handful of starts and 1 or two good games but Kolb is exactly why Flynn won't get that 60 mil contract. If Kolb tore it up when he went to Ari then Flynn would definitely benefit but since he flopped Flynns agent doesn't really have a leg to stand on when asking for that much money.

Everything you just said is true.

Yet, teams w/o a QB will still roll the dice. In today's NFL the QB position is more valuable then ever. I expect a bidding war.

Matt Flynn is gonna get paid, one way or the other.

If Miami hired Joe Philbin as the HC (Flynn's former OC in Green Bay) and he says "Matt Flynn is the guy I want" . . . Miami needs to bring that man to South Florida. Doesn't matter what anybody feels about Flynn and it doesn't matter what Kolb made . . . Philbin knows him best so I have a certain comfort level knowing that even if I do have my suspicions.

Had this been Tony Sparano as the coach, I would have been terrified.
