Pete Rose was working his day job, which on this day meant he was inside a ritzy shopping mall at Caesars Palace, pen in hand.

A few feet away in this adult Disneyland, a Roman-themed laser light and water show erupted on the hour. The real spectacle, though, for the tourists and holiday shoppers wandering by was the beefy man in the red baseball cap.

Two girls wearing No. 14 jerseys were trying to drum up business, holding up signs offering autographs. The curious pull out cameras and cell phones to take pictures, but there are buyers, too.

Rose is an idiot, he knew betting on his team to win or lose would cause him to be banned if caught, but he did it anyway. He thought he was bigger than the game, really I think the guy just isnt too bright. If he had admitted this ages ago and apologized he probaly would be the Hall right now and not at shopping malls begging for people to pay him to sign stuff.
 
but the amount you bet on the game is a telling sign of how "confident" you feel your team is going to win. If you are betting $10,000 a game on the Reds but then one day only bet $2,000 you are giving out inside information to the bookie and whoever else has knowledge of you gambling of your confidence level in such game.
 
Rose has served his "sentence." I think he deserves to be in the Hall....he did not murder two people the way OJ did....he did not bet against the Reds or throw any games. Pete has no choice but to sell autographs for a living as he has been baneed from baseball. Nobody played the game harder than Pete.
 
No one argues that Rose doesnt deserve the Hall for his on the field play, theres no question of that. Rose, however, committed the gambling 'mistake' while managing, he was still in the game. He broke the ultimate rule in sports, he brought into question the integrity of the game. No one is above that, not Rose or anyone.
Rose would be in the Hall if he wasnt such an idiot. All he had to do is show some contrition, apoligize, play the game with the Commish, and he would be in. He just admitted to gambling what a year ago?
OJ is innocent remember :)
Seriously though, there isnt really anything the NFL can do, OJ was found innocent, in criminal court, they really cant remove him from the Hall.

OJ killing people doesn't effect anything ON THE FIELD. What Rose did effected games that took place ON THE FIELD. 2 different things. OJ is just a scumbag. Rose could be a cheater and runied the integrity of the game.

Actually O.J. was found "not guilty". He wasn't found innocent (but I know what you meant).

I agree with MikeO though. Even if he bet on the Reds he was still compromising the team.
