Armando Salgeuro just tweeted that Drew Rosenhaus said on Sports Xtra that Roth will practice this week. Rosenhause made sure to say no to hold him to it, but he thinks Roth practices this week.

Salguero says Roth has missed 21 practices. Twenty one practices I think have helped solidify JT as the starter.

That's fine. Quite honestly, the only way I want to see him during the regular season is when JT is tired or injured.

He probably isnt going to be the starter with the way JT is playing in practice

If JT is playing first and second down you will be seeing him alot, as other teams pound the ball for 7 min drives for an easy 6 points.

If Roth is healthy and "gets in enough practices" to satisfy the coaching staff he will start. Lets not forget his strength is run support... and JT's weakness... run support.

If you cant stop the run then you're in trouble.

I've said that JT should be the starter...Roth has done me the favor of making sure that actually happens...

And he also said Roth would beat out JT.

i think Roth has fallen into a hole which is too steep to climb out. he'll be the opening day back-up to Taylor. we'll know a lot more after Atlanta. if we're capable of stopping their run game with Taylor in there, Roth will be a role player. if not, Roth will come back in at some point as a starter.

Completely agree.

Those talking about Who would beat out who between Roth and Taylor are looking at the situation incorrectly. It never would have been a comp. at all IMO. From the beginning I believe this was always going to be a platoon situation. JT has fallen off horribly in run support and Roth is fantastic at it and Roth never develped as a pass rusher the way the Phins would have liked.

Platoon all the way if Roth can heal...... or get out of the doghouse if he's in it.

Exactly. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes in this situation. But, if it really was about Roth getting his groin 100%, he will be the 1st and second down run support OLB. Miami only has ONE dominant run support LB. And Roth is him.

The trifecta knows how important that role is.

Roth played the last two seasons with that bad groin. If that is 100% again, we might see a new improved Roth reminiscent of what we saw from him in '06 with the pass rush speed back. But, bringing JT or Wake (or both) in on passing situations, will just be scary to offenses.

It's all good.

i don't want JT worn out this year playing full-time and i don't have to worry about it cause he'll split snaps with Roth.

I think Roth has cost himself a lot of money this last month with lieing to Sparano about an injury/illness and now with JT looking like his old self. Remember before training camp started JT wasn't a lock to make the team. Now from what i hear in the reports he's the 2nd most dominant fin out there right now(behind Jake Long). Whether or not Roth regains his starting job, i still think he lost some PT to Taylor and probably some money since his numbers will be down in a contract year.

JT was so-so in run support as a DE- he's playing OLB now, so he has a big boy in front of him. Big difference there. But given his age and Roth's ability to play the run I'd think that there would be some platooning of the position. Makes sense to me.
