Rosgers-esque, Favre-esque

If one recalls Rodgers played for a bad Cal team. He was strong armed and a gunslinger. He was ****y. He was a leader. He was projected to be the #1 pick early in the process.

We had the #2 pick.

Saban came out and said some things about Rodgers. Rodgers fell to 2. Saban fell in love with Ronnie. Rodgers fell to GB. Sat behind Favre for four years. Rest is history.

^^ This was always the BIG mistake Saban made while in Miami. He always talks about the medical staff not approving the Drew Brees acquisition — but there was a franchise QB right there for the taking once the Niners passed and went with Alex Smith instead yet Saban opted for an SEC RB he was familiar with over a QB most at that time felt was worthy of a top pick.

Saban can’t blame the medical staff or ownership over that one.

There’s been many draft prospects over the decades I’ve lamented the Dolphins not selecting — but none sting more than Randy Moss and Aaron Rodgers. The Dolphins never officially passed on Moss, of course, but Jimmy Johnson traded out of the first round hours before Moss dropped like a rock right past the Dolphins previous draft position. Always bothered me.

Who is the most Rosgers-esque QB in this draft?

Imo Nuss and Altmyer kinda remind me a bit of Rodgers.

They even play in similar Air-Coryell WC offenses.

Favre was not very high profile coming from Miss. There's a story that says Favre arrived at rookie camp saying he already had the best arm in the NFL and his coach hated it. So his coach answered, we picked the wrong guy! And said they intended to pick another player with a similar name.

He was a reject.

Got traded away and made it in GB.

Joey Aguilar reminds me the most of Favre in this draft. Exact type of big armed, big bodied maniac that's faced lot's of rejection. Exact type of gunslinger.

Who is the most like Jordan Love in your opinion? Chambliss, maybe? Except he's short.
Taylen Green

Ugh so many GB references now.

I still say to this day that Ronnie Brown was one of worst draft picks of all time.....when looking at the grand scheme of things.

1) Ronnie Brown had no business being drafted #2 overall. He was in committee at Auburn and he was nothing special in college. Not like a Reggie Bush, or a Leonard Furnette, or a Christian Mccaffrey or a Saquan Barkley. And Ronnie Browns NFL career reflects that too. He was never anything special. Should have never been drafted that high.
2) we had no QB at that time
3) we drafted a RB over a QB
4) that QB was Aaron Rodgers

You are so right. Dan Marino with Randy Moss would have been something. And Aaron Rodgers could have changed the fortunes of the franchise over the last 20 years.

I still can’t believe we drafted a rb #2 who wasn’t even the best rb on his team.
Hey... at least we had the wild cat

Guy was a part time starter in college and we take him #2 overall after the underwear Olympics in Indy while in desperate need of a QB. In typical Dolphins fashion that QB goes on to be one of the best 10 QB's in history.

Who needs Randy Moss when you can have John Avery and Larry Shannon instead.

It’s Mendoza and then everyone else. But if you’re taking a guy based on raw potential who can be molded it’s Taylen Green. If you’re taking a guy who has talent and potential that you think just got bad coaching in college it’s Cade Klubnick. If we had a less underwhelming QB coach hire I’d have some hopes for a developmental prospect.
