So there are a lot of hypotheticals still being reported about the power structure in Davie.

Although the team has announced that Philbin will have control over coaching staff, Hickey over players and personnell, and Aponte answers to Hickey, I believe Ross would do well to hire a Czar.

There is plenty of criticism of Ross not being in change of day to day running of the team. He could 1) move his real estate business here to be closer to the team like Kraft in N.E., or 2) hire a Czar.

Robert Kraft runs Gillette. My god that's a damn huge corporation to be on top of and no-one complains that football isn't his primary business.

So, since Ross isn't Kraft and it's afforded the same respect (winning would help) just hire a Czar to oversee the whole shebang. And IF, we need to clean house next year, this Czar can make all those decisions and be the public face of the process and spare Ross another offs season of embarrassment.

It's clear that no matter what needs to be done, when Ross is involved, he is absolutely crushed in the media.

Save us all the gory details. Hire a Czar.

Ya mean like Tuna? Been there, done that.

the czar he wants doesn't want to be a czar Carl Peterson

No thanks. I couldnt imagine him starting a brand new Czar search after how bad they botched this GM search, which was to levels never seen before. Please, no more searches.

After I posted this I knew people would pull out the Parcells or Peterson names. But those are too simple. Names fed to us by the media trying to connect dots.

No, hire an actual President of Football Operations. Someone to be Ross' representation on day to day basis, if needed. Perhaps bring him in halfway through the season, especially if things are tanking. Also it allows the onus to be placed on Ross and on someone who actually has some sort of reputation in the league.

Ross obviously needs much more help than he has now.

After this search, I'd fire my committees of advisors.

Maybe, just maybe, this botched search comes out better than those which were not botched in Saban and Tuna, who most thought were great signings, as did most of the NFL.

Who did you have in mind? Always a part of the equation.

Caserio basically wanted that "czar" power in his GM role, to hire/fire anyone he chooses, and it was refused. I doubt Ross changes his mind.

I don't really have anyone in mind. I was hoping this would start a conversation as to who may be the type of guy who can come in, be eyes and ears this season. Watch the "kids in the playground" and make sure they all are getting along, answer needs as they arise if Ross isn't available, and if not, advise Ross to fire the lot, and be in charge of finding their replacement.

Obviously Ross is a klutz. He needs help. Let someone else be the one to be his "facade" so to speak. He needs to stay in the background, and the team needs proper representation in times of turmoil.

It was reported by different outlets that he did, and , did not, request said power. So which is it? We do not know. All we know is he was offered the job and he said no.

Someone even over the GM.

Find someone to represent him in the pyramid of power. Hickey & Ross and report to him for day to day things when Ross is away (which is always). Ross would still hire and fire The GM and coach on advice from the Czar/President.

A Figurehead.

Ross needs to be protected from... himself.

Maybe. Hopefully. And as I said in another thread if they do, I will gladly eat my words.

Actually Robert Kraft and family own Kraft Foods. They also own Gillette Stadium at Foxboro. They sold the naming rights. The Gillette Company is now part of Proctor and Gamble. He is not in the razor business - he's in the processed cheese business. Although it could be argued that the Patriots are a nice little business on the side.
