Seeing an alert on WSVN that Ross will pay 400 million of his own cash. Looking for details now.

A person familiar with the situation says Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is set to announce he's going to pay for up to $400 million in renovations to the team's stadium, which will help keep South Florida competitive in bidding for Super Bowls and college football's championship games.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday because Ross hasn't spoken publicly about his plan. The person said Ross is talking with Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez about the plan.

The person said Ross has decided to pay for the work himself because Super Bowl applications are due in August and he wants to get the process started. Renovations will include a canopy to shade seats that are now exposed.

Ross is reportedly paying for the stadium renovations himself. He wants to get process started. Super Bowl application due in August.

Steve Ross is a good owner, puts his money where his mouth is. Those who constantly make him out as some sort of villain are clueless... now if he could just get us a proper gm

With 400mil he would be close to building a new one...............you think.

Wow. Now that actually surprises me. Not much does these days, but can't say I expected Steve-O to reach into his own pockets for the total cost. I honestly just wish he'd build a new stadium though.

Wow. People asked for this well here it is...today was the last day to renew season tickets so good timing no?

Steve Ross is a generous owner, you have to give him that. Hopefully we see the Superbowl return to Miami soon (in two ways ).

Nah stadiums these days are like a billion plus land if u need it... That's what the meadowlands went up for I believe and that was on same land they had already... And they chinced on a retractable roof... ( just erked me cause the weather up here and they could use it for so much more in off season to generate revenue to offset cost) but I digress.

Ross taking a page from his new lobbying partner, NASCAR. If you want to get **** done quick, you have to pay for it yourself.

Damn man, do you think you could give the guy a chance?

Ross has had his share of blunders but you have to admit he tries. Good for him. It would be nice to get some funding for a new stadium, but this is the next best thing.
