My other thought revolves around the persistent criticism regarding the lack of leadership in the Dolphins’ locker room and from head coach Joe Philbin. I think that's overblown. The only people who would've known what was really going on would've been the guys in the offensive line meeting room and even they probably wouldn't have known the extent of the text messaging and voicemails. How could they if Martin didn't tell them about it?

I agree.

Yea those guys in the offensive line meeting were to busy making it rain or having sex with the sex dolls the OL coach purchased for them...i guess for the great job they were doing....is there any doubt that these clowns didn't have girlfriends and could only buy a date? and here I am thinking my teams OL was doing everything it could to fix the problems and make the playoffs this yr.....stupid me.....

... and me

Its called being a Jedi. And I want one for an HC.

Cogs pulls his car into the facility parking lot.

Philbin in his office: i've got a bad feeling about this...

My 2 cents...

I mean the guy knows if there is a stray gum wrapper anywhere in his vicinity. It seems his "attention to detail" is misplaced.

While I agree that it would be hard for him to know without JMart telling him, it still is disappointing that his culture fosters an attitude that seemingly no one felt comfortable coming forward to express complaints/issues. I admit I do not know the culture, but from the outside looking in, there seems to be a track record. JMart not coming forward, other players like Garner, the assistants/trainers etc.

It's his team, he hired the people there. He could of had the trainers/assistants be his eyes/ears of the locker room as they spend the time in there, where the head coach usually doesn't. But the trainers/assistants who could have been tasked with this (ala Tom Izzo's approach/statement) were also allegedly getting harassed or in some instances taking part in the behavior. And they didn't even feel comfortable enough to express this with Philbin.

It's disappointing, as others have stated, that there was so much bs going on other than focusing on winning. I cant specifically blame this bullygate on Philbin, but the issues I brought up, I do blame on him. Now it's up to him to make things right and rethink his approach.

Accountability seems lacking from top to bottom and hopefully it gets restored.

overblown?? really? i got a question: thru all this "investigation-ing" and whatnot, how'd Sherman's name NOT show up AT ALL in Wells report? Turner did report to him as OC right? so.. how'd he come out unscathed? I'd begrudgingly give on Phailbin and Ross; but c'mon man.. dude was blowing Egnew up on Hard Knocks to the football universe for cripesake. talk about bullying!

Agree, it would have been swept under the rug if it happened in New England.

If it happened in NE, there would be a lot of people on here singing a completely different tune.

I have heard a lot of current and former players say exactly what Ross Tucker is saying.......

and there's the report that Martin's dad & Philbin had a father-to-father talk about Jonathan's mental state in May; after playing poorly vs Balt in Oct, Martin missed practice or a lift - then showed up later in the day at the facility drunk. how could Philbin miss an important member of an "offensive" OL not being at practice the day after - and following that talk? wouldn't he have questioned Sherman, who'd question Turner, who'd ask the trainers, who'd try and call Martin? and when he showed, what'd they (all of them) do? play 'hide-the-drunken-psycho-Olineman'?!!

While I could agree the troubling thing to me is not that Philbin didn't know but the fact that Incog had two off-field issues in the last year and did nothing but allow him to be a council leader. Second once Philbin knew that his lineman had mental health issues and contemplated suicide...to any degree, he should have made himself more available and put a trainer, coach, etc, on Martin all season to make sure he was o.k. Finally the fact that his own coach, Turner, lied to his face means he had no respect for Philbin and that says something add to that the fact that he has not yet fired Turner. No faith right now in joe philbin.

blowing up a guy is not calling him out for flat sucking in practice...it's not shermans fault egnew was there but it was irelands...sherman can only work with what he was given...and yeah the guy had faults sherman that is and he needed to go but he was also given a crap sandwich to work with personnel wise at many positions...oline especially

jesus we gonna make it now where you can't even call a guy out in the film room for not doing his job or blowing an assignment cause certain people can't handle the criticism...well then find another profession boss...one that doesnt require accountability and one that doesnt care if you are good at it or not...good luck with that

ross tuckers got it right if philbin spent all his time in the oline meeting rooms etc and held the olines hand every day at lunch etc then yeah he would be more responsible...but he's the head coach his job responsibilities are not that he doesn't sit in on every meeting with every position coach he doesn't have the time to do that for one and for two he has position coaches who are there for that and should if need be relay necessary things to him...

canning philbin over this is a joke...who wants to work for a micromanager??? i know i don't if the guys in jobs aren't capable of getting the job done they shouldn't be there in the first place...this is a couple individuals going haywire a powderkeg in incognito who has no respect for himself let alone anyone else and a guy that has serious personal issues and self esteem problems in martin who needs to be propped up and told how good he is all the time or he loses it...

The NFL is going to destroy itself with all the political correctness and concussion over-sensitivity. Now a coach (Sherman) telling his player (Egnew) that his play isn't cutting it is considered bullying? What's next, lawsuits when a player gets cut? "Children" on there parents health care plan until the age of 26? I swear to God we are raising the softest generation in our nations history.

Martin not telling anyone is my biggest issue with Martin and this entire story.
