I thought it would be interesting to plug into what finheaven sees for some of the new guys and some of the bottom of the roster guys.

What do you see for this guy in 2012???

Richard Marshall?

Nolan Carroll?

Jimmy Wilson?

Gary Guyton?

Jamaal Westerman?

Artis Hicks?

Phillip Merling?

My thoughts:
Marshall........I have no idea really, that's a big reason for this thread.
Nolan Carroll....I have my doubts that he will make the roster. He is a fantstic athlete but he seems to have little if any of the intangibles needed to play at a high level.
Jimmy Wilson....?
Guyton..........I see him filling in very nicely for any of the 4-3 LB roles and could probably be a backup speed rusher in case Wake is injured.
Westerman.....Probably a waste of money.
Hicks..............I still don't get it?
Merling..........Needs to drop weight and play as a 4-3 end; otherwise, if he trys to play 5 or 3-technique, he will fail.

1-Marshall throughtout his career has been a corner that really is not good in coverage which is not a good sign. He does seem pretty damn good in coverage at safety and hopefully he will be playing there. We dfinately overpaid but he could be a fixture at safety.
2-Carrol- Seems to have no feel for the game great athlete bad football player
3-jimmy wilson- Was suprisingly good at times and also seems better suited for safety.
4-Guyton= Hmm backup speed rusher that cant find the qb. He has 4.5 sacks in 4 years ouch. He started one full season for NE and they had enough. Decent backup but is not starting material.
5- Westerman- Well he got only 600,000 which may be a waste of money but he did have 3.5 sacks last year so maybe he can continue to improve. The jets did not tender him which means he didnt impress them much.
6-Hick hmm he couldnt break into the lineup over basically two rookies and Tony pashos nuff said. why we paid him 2 million is beyond me because he is a minimum salary type guy at this stage.
7-Merling had some promise early on has been pure unadulterated crap the past two years. How we even tendered him is a mystery 7 tackles the past two years and no sacks. Definately seems more of an inside guy in the 4-3. Im hoping he can find his game liked him as a draft pick but he seems quite lazy.

not to be that guy, but guyton is a coverage lb. he has great speed but isn't a pass rusher.

And the shame is he is a coverage linebacker who wasnt good in coverage last year thus NE didnt care to keep him

All of these players are a clear sign that a-list free agents do not want anything to do with the Dolphins. These are players that have signed solely because they want to play in the NFL.

There is a ring of truth to that plus Ireland will not pay extra to over come that perception.
