The title was placed there to get rise out of a everyone!:D
But my thought was that some of his actions are reminiscent of one Bryan Cox whom I personally loved back in the day, becuase he brought a fire that imo was missing on the phins squad at the time. However, with Bryan you had to take the good with the bad: penalties, rough comments and bad press. I know we can't predict the guys future, but from what we hear thus far will Roth have that same type of impact that Cox had? And do you think that Saban encourages that type behavior.

I love him--wish he was my bro :)

he has already tried to start two fights from what I hear, one of them was with Abali

I think roth will be ok , but for his sake he better not lose his cool at a official durring a game because those 15 yrd penalties will no doubt piss off our beloved coach . lets just leave those knuckle head penalties to donald lee that is his job.

botyh fights were cheap shots by both players. they will learn very quickly about yellow flags and penalties. this is different then college. Yes matt leans towards thuggish but he didn't seem to start it, just reacted to plays by others he may need to learn control. Let me also add this every scurmish that he has been in saban has not been ther, saban is away working on other groups

I think Cox is a good comparison, but perception will play a big role. In our draft there were several comments about Crowder being a thug b/c he got in a couple of fights (off the field), but the word on Roth was that he was just a fiery competitor. This is despite the fact that he got into at least as many fights as Crowder had. Also Roth was more prone to thuggish behavior on the field while Crowder was by all accts. a leader on the field (he was a defensive captain his freshman year). Why was one player a thug and the other a competitor? IMO perception and that plays a role in who gets those 15 yard penalties as well b/c the refs aren't immune from this. Cox developed a perception as a thug. We'll see what perception Roth develops.

Roth is bringing what you want him to bring in TC...

Why do you think they call them "training camp battles" ?

i saw his fight at day 1, wasn't really a fight, just a shove then broken up. they're not like tackling each other and punching each other to the head

You need a fire attitude in TC especially when you're a rook. The veterans can sometimes just go through the motions and it can help to fire evryone up. He seems to be starting most trouble after a cheap shot from the opposing player and hopefully knows better than to do it in a game. plus I believe both instances were against younger players as well.
People feared Timbo on other teams yet he was never percieved as a thug.

As long as he doesn't go Romo on someone we will be fine.
