It seems to me that our huge interest in DT that aren't technically young is b/c we will be running a LOT of 3 4 sets and that JT will be our LOLB and ROTH (since they say he is nothin like he was last year and he should be a tornado on the field and a monster) will take his spot if it isn't Bowens.

Roth will see the field more. But remember, hes being used more in running situations. i still think hes a year away from being a fullt ime starter.

Interesting to hear about Roth.

I watched that guy play a lot of Big 10 football, and I'm still hoping he can play with the pros like he did with those midwestern kids. That would be great news for the Fins.

Hey, SR 7... LOVE the Walsh quote!

i hope to god roth gets playin time he is a monster

Indeed, I am from Iowa and he will be somethin.

Roth only needs to learn to compensate for his short arms. He has the tenacity and athletic ability to get it done.

Seems from where?

We aren't so much looking for DT's or 3-4 DE's but NT's. Run stoppers who can plug the middle. We have Traylor and perhaps Zgonina, both of whom have a lot of miles on them, and the young guys, Manny Wright (just switched inside), Fred Evans, Steve Fafita, and perhaps Kevin Vickerson. Too much age or too little experiance is the issue.

JT switching to the left side of the defense? Yes he did that some last season but he has been generally on the right side of the defense, backed by David Bowens and now also, if another thread is to be believed, Ben Ishola. Roth was backing up Kevin Carter who played LDE in both the 4-3 and the 3-4 formations. Roth would play the same way.

Where have you heard that has changed? Is there a link?

That was curiosity not offense and unfortunately this is as relaxed as I get!:D That probably says more about my life than anything else.

No offense taken or intended.
