There you go for those saying Ross made a mistake not trying to work out an agreement w/Ireland & Fisher. He wanted final say and that has proven not to work. Also expected to earn 7 million seems a bit extreme to me.

I also a report on here that we leaked it out, well apparently he let the Rams know Thursday night.

Fisher went 14-18 his last 2 seasons. Never won a SB, had 6 winning out of 17 seasons, has even recently espoused his run first philosophy although since post 2004 this has been a QB-driven league and instead of gaining an introspective overview by watching other coaches fail and succeed from the broadcast booth, sat fermenting for a year.

Why in heaven's name would Ross or anyone not on lithium believe that totally empowering a mediocre guy like this with final veto power is a good thing? :idk:

Now you can say he was handcuffed by Bud Adams cheapness and intervention and prudently doesn't want that to happen (just like Ireland and Parcells?). But the fact remains he was there for 17 years which has to have included more than 2 contract renewals which he freely agreed to. So does that make him a dummass also?

I wasn't totally averse to giving Fisher final say, but I think it's laughable that Steve Ross is getting pounded by certain ex-Dolphins beat writers and Pat White fanboys for standing his ground and sticking with Ireland.

No matter what we did, those folks were going to trash the team. If we'd caved to Fisher, they'd have blasted the team for caving to Fisher. If we'd not even gone after him in the first place, we'd have been blasted for not going after the 'best' candidate on the market. That's just the narrative that certain people want to advance, and they will advance it no matter what the truth of the matter is.

that whole thing with Jeff Fishers agent being the Rams GMs dad is kinda weird too Fisher seems like a scumbag too me, I just want a coach who wants to coach the dolphins we will beat the Rams period

Yup, I speculated at the beginning of Dolphins vs. Rams ... Tuna-Fisher v2.0 Bet he has that liquidation clause too, that if something goes wrong he takes all his toys/money & goes home.

Every "name" coach prima-donna is asking for that in the NFL.

IMHO, recipe for disaster ... didn't even work out so well for the great Don Shula, just couldn't draft & assemble the right people to exploit Marino's talents for a Super Bowl.

Good hire for the Rams. They have some big decisions coming up so it makes sense that they were desperate to have someone with plenty of experience. Fisher will make sure they play hardball with the #2 pick, get the basics right on the field and make them difficult to beat. I'd be surprised if they are not a winning team within a couple of years
